JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Working as a social worker in financial assistance is a varied and exciting job! As a social worker, you work with two parallel processes where you investigate, assess, and decide on financial assistance according to the Social Services Act, and at the same time investigate the individual's resources and potential barriers to self-sufficiency, support, motivate, and guide towards self-sufficiency through work, studies, or other compensation. You do this together with the individual and in collaboration with other relevant parties such as healthcare, the Employment Service, the Social Insurance Agency, and internally within IFO and the municipality's various operations. Social work is important, and being able to meet the individual in the situation they are in is crucial. Therefore, the work involves client-centered work that includes regular motivation and change work. We work with a plan for self-sufficiency to help the individual and the case move forward towards set goals.

Case management involves qualified investigative work based on the applicable delegation order. The investigative work includes individual assessments that encompass economics, law, and a holistic assessment of the individual's situation. You will have both new visits and ongoing cases. We work according to a systems-theoretical approach where we base our work on each individual person and their network. Working with financial assistance means that you have the opportunity to perform practical qualified social work with the individual in focus. The work involves a great deal of autonomy where you independently manage your cases but with close support and assistance from colleagues and your manager. We work closely together and have regular case discussions and reviews. We maintain a lower case load to have time to meet and work with our clients. Your closest colleagues also work with mediated funds, estate management, and domestic violence, which means that there may be opportunities for competence development in these areas to also work with these tasks.
