Summer Temporary Position as Treatment Pedagogue at SiS

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse, across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. SiS youth home Margretelund receives non-compulsory school-age girls and boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We operate in Lidköping and near Falköping.

Job Description

Take the opportunity to try an interesting summer temporary position as a treatment pedagogue at SiS. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often encounter people in crisis, which means you will work with qualified care and motivational work and provide support in daily life. With the support of your knowledge and skills in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You help maintain safety according to our routines and contribute to the smooth running of daily activities such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. The work may include contact person responsibilities. This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.

As a summer temporary employee at SiS, you will undergo a tailored introductory training to prepare you for your role.

Qualifications

You should have:

  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant field.
  • Driver's license B
  • Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing

It is also advantageous if you have:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or LSS care
  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., correctional officer
  • Security guard training
  • Training in care and nursing
  • Experience working with our target group (e.g., youth care, young girls, etc.)

To succeed in your work, you have a well-founded positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's values of being a place for change. You have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are self-assured and easily establish good treatment relationships. You have strong communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You find it easy to collaborate with others and can manage conflicts constructively.

We want to reward you for helping us during the summer period; therefore, if you work full-time as a monthly employed summer temporary worker for more than four weeks, you will receive a bonus. Employment

  • The position is a full-time temporary position during our vacation periods (June, July, August). We primarily prioritize those who can work both periods, followed by those who can work one of them. If you can only work sporadic weeks or between periods, this needs to be communicated early.
  • It is desirable and advantageous if you can start working as a temporary employee before the temporary position begins, but it is not a requirement.
