Who am I?

My name is Carl and I am almost 2 years old. I have a rare diagnosis that means I have extensive care needs, and therefore I have personal assistance around the clock. I live with my parents in an apartment in central Gothenburg, where we spend most of our time. We also have a house in Lidköping, where we go every other weekend. Therefore, we are now looking for someone who wants to work with me in Lidköping, night shifts every other weekend.

This is what a work shift with me might look like:

As I am a small child, I need extensive care, support, and assistance. Due to congenital breathing difficulties, I have a tracheostomy tube (trach) that requires constant supervision and care. I communicate with signs and enjoy playing, singing children's songs, cuddling, and learning new things. There are always 2 assistants working with me at the same time, as I need someone to keep an eye on me all the time and can interpret my signals about what I need help with. Much of my life is routine-based, but you will learn this during the introduction and as you get to know me and my needs.

Who are you?

To thrive with me, you need to be a secure, responsible person who is curious and attentive to my needs. You find it easy to understand and follow routines, both verbally and in writing. Clear and smooth communication is important, as urgent situations can arise and need to be handled calmly, effectively, and securely. To work with me, you need to have solid experience, preferably being a trained nursing assistant. Knowing sign language from the start is not a requirement, but you need to be curious and interested in learning to interpret and understand Carl.

About the position:

The work involves every other weekend (even weeks), Friday and Saturday, with working hours from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.

The position is available immediately. However, employment will occur before that as you will be scheduled for shadowing and trach training.
