Job Responsibilities
As an exam invigilator, you play a significant role for the students in the exam room, which is why we are looking for someone who can create a calm and secure examination environment while ensuring that the process is conducted in a legally secure manner.
During a work shift, you are responsible for the handling of writing materials and ensuring that procedures are carried out according to MDU's regulations. You maintain a good service level to students and colleagues, as well as prevent cheating. You supervise up to 40 students alone, as you circulate in the room for 2-5 hours, sometimes in a tiered room with level differences.
The shifts can be intense at times when a lot is happening and decisions need to be made quickly. However, most of the shifts consist of supervision in the exam room, where it is important to maintain attention and be willing to act if a situation arises. It is a requirement that you as an exam invigilator follow instructions and regulations and apply the provisions that this entails in the examination situation.
As an exam invigilator, you have responsibilities and many independent tasks at the same time. We sometimes work in teams, with up to 160 students, where everyone has their clear role during the workday, making collaboration and communication of utmost importance. We also conduct an increasing number of digital exams, so we expect you to feel comfortable with computers and be able to perform basic troubleshooting, such as finding network connections, uninstalling and installing programs.
Examples of tasks in the room include:
- seating students
- reading out the room rules (in Swedish and English)
- distributing and collecting writing materials
- conducting identity checks and dismissing unauthorized students
- maintaining order in the room to provide students with the conditions to complete the exam according to the university's regulations and guidelines
Please note that you cannot work as an exam invigilator if you are a student at MDU.
Qualifications
- You must be at least 18 years old
- Have at least a passing grade at the high school level in Swedish and English
- You can communicate well in Swedish and English
- Have experience in data management, installation/uninstallation of programs, etc.
- You can walk around an exam room for 5 hours
A test is planned to be conducted, demonstrating theoretical knowledge as well as computer skills.
Desirable
- Experience working in a school environment
- Experience in administrative work
- Experience in instructing others
Personal Abilities
In a comprehensive assessment of suitability, personal abilities are also taken into account. All employees at MDU are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the operations and their own tasks, and contribute to a good working environment.
- The central words for your person are service-oriented, responsible, and self-driven
- You are a trustworthy, positive team player with good collaborative skills
- You also need to be proactive and take initiative in your actions, while not hesitating to speak up if necessary
- You are both attentive and meticulous, and you are also willing to encourage others to follow rules and instructions when needed.
- You are efficient in carrying out your tasks
Decisive importance is placed on personal suitability. We value the qualities that a balanced age and gender distribution as well as ethnic and cultural diversity contribute.
