We are looking for election officials for the parliamentary, regional, and municipal council elections on Sunday, September 13, 2026

To work as an election official, you must be at least 18 years old on election day, have no political assignments, and be helpful, service-oriented, and meticulous. Election officials undergo mandatory training to be approved as ballot receivers. Compensation is paid according to the Election Board's decision on fees.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Your task as an election official is to help ensure that the election is conducted correctly, safely, and securely. Responsibilities include maintaining order in the polling station, receiving votes, checking off in the voter register, and after the polling station closes, reviewing and counting the votes. A total of nine ballot receivers work in various roles at a polling station. Among them, a chairperson leads and distributes the work together with a vice-chairperson.

The role of an election official requires a helpful and friendly demeanor as well as great attention to detail. It is also important to be able to handle some stress.

All election officials undergo mandatory training to receive an appointment as ballot receivers.

On Election Day

The polling stations are open from 08:00 to 20:00, after which all votes must be counted. This means that the workday may last until midnight or even longer. You will work according to a schedule where the estimated working time is about 10 hours. Responsibilities may also include helping to set up the polling station on Saturday, September 12. This is expected to take a couple of hours.

QUALIFICATIONS

To work as an election official, you must:

  • be at least 18 years old on election day,
  • have no political assignments or be on a candidate list for a political position,
  • be helpful, service-oriented, and meticulous,
  • be able to handle some stress.

OTHER

Employment type: Fixed-term employment

Extent: Part-time

Compensation is paid according to the Election Board's decision on fees:

  • 4,300 SEK for district chairperson
  • 3,900 SEK for district vice-chairperson
  • 3,250 SEK for other ballot receivers
  • 1,650 SEK for extra vote counters on election night
  • 500 SEK for training session
  • 500 SEK for setting up the polling station on the Saturday before the election
