Communicator for the Public Transport Administration in Västmanland

We are looking for a communicator who combines strategic thinking with the ability to implement ideas in practice. Responsibilities

As a communicator at VL/Public Transport Administration, you will be part of a socially important mission with a significant impact on people's daily lives. You will be part of our communication team and use your skills to develop and implement communication initiatives that affect how public transport is perceived and used. You will see and hold together the communicative whole and translate this into clear, consistent, and target group-adapted communication. In this role, you will work broadly with communication but with a particular focus on social media, project communication, traffic information, and campaigns. You will create content that engages, informs, and strengthens the brand – always with an eye for the graphic and to maintain a cohesive visual profile. The work is characterized by rapid changes and close collaboration – both internally with the organization and externally with various stakeholders.

Your responsibilities include:

• being responsible for strategic and operational communication, from analysis to implementation.
• planning, executing, and following up communication campaigns that engage and reach the right target groups.
• being responsible for strategies and content in social media to strengthen the brand and reach our travelers.
• developing communication plans and driving and developing communication initiatives related to development projects.
• producing and publishing traffic information during disruptions, changes, and planned work.
• developing and implementing methods, structures, and tools that streamline communication work.
• contributing to a holistic view and long-term goals through both strategic and operational work.

About the workplace

The Public Transport Administration is part of Region Västmanland, responsible for planning, operating, and developing public transport in Västmanland. Together, we are about 100 people working with both general and special public transport.

General public transport includes regional train and bus lines, city traffic, municipal traffic, and school transport. Special public transport is aimed at those who cannot travel with regular public transport – for example, for medical trips, transport services, or special school transport.

The administration is led by a director and is organized into three operational areas: Traffic Supply, Marketing, and Staff. The position of communicator is placed under the operational area of Marketing.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in communication, or equivalent competence, who enjoys working both strategically and operationally. We prefer that you have documented experience in communication work in complex organizations and feel confident in your professional role.

In this role, you will plan, produce, and publish content in our social media and work on developing and implementing communication plans in practice. Therefore, we are looking for someone skilled at adapting messages for different target groups and channels and who has good digital competence. You have experience with publishing tools and are used to working according to a graphic profile, with a sense of both form and content.

You express yourself very well in both spoken and written Swedish and have good experience working in Microsoft 365, including Office programs and Teams. If you also have experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, we consider it an advantage.

As a person, you are structured and flexible with a natural curiosity that makes you thrive in complex contexts. You are proactive, solution-oriented, and unpretentious, with the ability to drive work forward while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. With a relationship-building approach, you collaborate easily with others and contribute creativity, accountability, and engagement in everything you do.
