As an Investment Manager, you will be a key player responsible for the entire investment process with the goal of investing in and developing innovative and scalable growth companies. You will be part of an experienced and dedicated team of six employees. We combine business with social benefit and invest in innovative, scalable startups across all sectors, such as tech, industry, and life sciences. We possess broad expertise and experience in investments, value creation, and sales processes. You will report to the Fund Manager in the region.

About the Position

As an Investment Manager, you will play an important role in the team where you will be responsible for the entire investment process, which includes:

Proactively finding and building relationships with entrepreneur teams, business angels, venture capital firms, and partners such as regional incubators
Analyzing and evaluating investment opportunities in companies and preparing internal decision-making materials and conducting due diligence
Negotiating agreements and executing investments
Actively developing and managing portfolio companies, where you typically represent Almi Invest through board work and in the ownership role work with business development and strategic issues
Planning and executing sales of our portfolio companies (exits)

Your ability to contribute to good business discussions and investment setups is crucial for Almi Invest to succeed in negotiations and build value in its portfolio companies. In addition to the immediate team of six people, you will also collaborate with colleagues in other Almi Invest companies across Sweden, where you will also be part of a nationwide sector team. Who Are You?

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who:

has a genuine interest and documented experience in driving and executing early-stage investments in unlisted companies and/or has documented experience of successfully raising capital in a startup or successfully taking a company public.
has an academic degree, preferably as an engineer, or an academic degree in another field but combined with several years of relevant professional experience from technology-intensive companies in business-oriented and/or business development roles.
is proficient in both Swedish and English in a business context, both spoken and written.
has a network among investors, preferably in the current region (Uppsala, Östergötland, Örebro, Västmanland, and Sörmland).

Experience of having run your own company or being a CEO in an early-stage company, as well as deeper knowledge in one or more areas such as AI, new materials, semiconductors, automation/robotics, cybersecurity, digital platforms, and sustainability is meritorious.
