About the job as a strategic buyer

As a strategic buyer at SAAB, you will be a key person in ensuring long-term sustainable business arrangements with suppliers. You will be responsible for the entire commercial process - from strategy formulation and contracts to monitoring supplier performance. The role involves close collaboration with production, development, marketing, and after-sales in an international and technically advanced environment.

Your responsibilities include:

Developing and implementing purchasing strategies within defined areas.
Negotiating commercial terms and drafting supplier agreements.
Leading and coordinating supplier teams in collaboration with other functions.
Establishing and further developing relationships with new and existing suppliers.
Monitoring and analyzing supplier performance related to cost, lead time, quality, and delivery capability.
Driving initiatives purposefully and in a structured manner.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with experience in working strategically and who thrives in the intersection of technology, business, and operational development. You have likely worked with purchasing, procurement, or contract management, preferably in environments with a technical focus such as defense, aviation, or industrial production.

Requirements for the position:

Academic degree in engineering, economics, or another relevant field.
Several years of experience in business-driven roles - for example, strategic purchasing or procurement.
Good negotiation skills in complex and international environments.
Ability to understand and analyze total cost over the lifecycle.
Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious:

Interest in technology and experience from technical projects.
Experience in cross-functional collaboration in larger organizations.
Ability to build good and long-term relationships.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable security protection regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
