Your Role

As a Category Manager for machined articles within the Gripen business unit, you play a key role in ensuring a sustainable long-term supplier base for the category, and you will interact with a large network of stakeholders, requirements setters, and suppliers in a global and dynamic environment. We are looking for someone who can and wants to operate throughout the entire category management process; from analyzing the category, developing strategies and activities to implementing and following up on results.

The main focus of the role is:

• Define, drive, and implement category management within the product area for the Gripen business unit
• Lead collaboration and communication with other functions such as production, quality, and strategic buyers, thereby delivering effective and differentiated solutions
• Work with risk management, anticipate and plan for fluctuations in the market, demand, and regulatory changes to secure a reliable supply chain
• Conduct and lead purchasing activities and projects to deliver cost reductions and meet KPI targets for the category
• Drive compliance with global security requirements and procurement policies through continuous process improvement

You will be an important part of the Saab Gripen supply chain - a chain that directly contributes to building and maintaining defense capability in Sweden and other countries.

Your Profile

To be successful in this role, we see that you have a strong business mindset and thrive in the intersection of technology, business, and operational development. You have likely worked with purchasing, procurement, or project management; preferably in a technically focused industry such as defense, aviation, or industrial production.

We particularly value:

• Experience in category management
• Experience in machining or similar industry, preferably in an international environment
• Experience in leadership and cross-functional collaboration in larger organizations
• Good negotiation skills in complex and international environments
• Ability to build good and long-term relationships, both internally and externally
• Ability to understand and analyze total cost over the lifecycle

Formal Requirements:

• Academic degree in economics, engineering, or another relevant discipline
• Several years of experience from business-driven roles - for example, strategic purchasing, procurement, or project management
• Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable security protection regulations. For positions where Saab has security classification requirements, this may entail a requirement for certain citizenship.
