We are looking for assistance for our eight-year-old who needs someone to make the environment accessible physically and communicatively. The child, who has cerebral palsy and autism, is very social and has many special interests. Your focus will be to act as an interpreter between the child and their surroundings and also to be the child's arms and legs when they want to climb, dance, and build with Lego.

The family consists of two parents and an older sibling. We also have a cat living with us, so no allergies can be present. The job will require flexibility in the sense that you will join our family for both planned and unplanned activities.

We are looking for a person who is attentive and has the ability to switch between different roles. You will work in our family and need to be able to alternate between taking initiative and stepping back, so that our family relationships can remain the focus.

As an assistant to our child, you will sometimes be a playmate and at other times help the child play with others without taking up space in the play yourself.

The child communicates through signs, gestures, and electronic PODD. You will learn to communicate with the child but also serve as the child's interpreter to the outside world.

You will need to have good physical fitness so that your focus can be on making play and activities accessible when aids are not enough. You will be the one who helps our child discover the world, being the bridge that overcomes their own physical limitations.

You are calm, attentive, communicative, and have an easy time reading situations and adapting to them. You are honest and open about your limitations and ask us again if you become uncertain. You find it easy to take instructions and follow routines but are also flexible if these change.

About the job

Your task as the child's personal assistant will be to support in all situations where their disabilities set limits, such as during play and activities inside and outside the home, communication, personal care, during meals, and during training.

The available position is approximately 30% with opportunities for extra work. The position is scheduled for afternoons/evenings and every other weekend. You will receive an introduction to learn your new tasks and the wishes that exist in the assistance.

Meritorious

Previous experience in the assistance profession, autism, and alternative communication and Takk is meritorious but not a requirement.

It is important that you have good physical fitness to help the child play and with transfers.

You are completely smoke-free and can tolerate pets and nuts. A plus if you are vegan.
