Social Welfare Officer at Västerås City
Västerås City has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will become an important part of our selection work.
Do you have a forward-looking mindset and a commitment to making a difference for individuals with disabilities?
With us, you will have the opportunity to work in a driven organization where we focus on quality, development, and good relationships. Our mission is to create opportunities for individuals to live a safe, independent, and meaningful life.
Your Responsibilities
As a social welfare officer, you are responsible for deciding what support services the individual is entitled to and ensuring these are provided. Through conversations with the individual, you assess their needs and gather relevant information for evaluation, decision-making, and documentation. It is particularly important that you follow up on the decisions made and actively work to ensure they are implemented. You will collaborate closely with colleagues in the team and other units.
Other tasks that may arise include participating in quality work, various projects, and assignments within the unit based on needs. The LSS unit currently consists of around thirty employees, and our mission is to assess and decide on individually needs-based assistance as well as to follow up on approved services according to LSS, the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons. The position involves exercising authority directed at children and adults.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or another relevant academic bachelor's degree, as well as training in social law. It is essential that you master the craft of writing and documenting in a careful and clear manner; therefore, you have good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing, as well as knowledge in case management documentation. Experience in exercising authority and knowledge of LSS, particularly the personal assistance service and its application, is an advantage for the position. A manual B driver's license is required as travel is part of the job.
You thrive in an environment where you independently drive and prioritize your own tasks while considering the overall needs of the organization for the best possible results. You support where there is a need and see collaboration as the key to success. You find it easy to create professional relationships and have the ability to communicate clearly. You are forward-looking and enjoy working in a flexible environment where you contribute to the development of new working methods and tools.
We Offer
For us, it is important that we support each other in our work and that we collectively take responsibility for our shared work environment. We work with collegial support and case discussions, where we learn and help each other with complex and challenging cases.
We have a strong commitment and pride in the work we do, and we constantly strive to develop and improve our operations. We offer an environment where competency-enhancing measures, based on both the needs of the organization and your interests, are an integral part of development.
The LSS unit is part of the Health and Social Care Administration. Please read more here (https://www.vasteras.se/vardochomsorgsforvaltningen).
Here, you will become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in both big and small matters. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues around the city, you will have Sweden's most important job.
