Social Worker Wanted at Västerås City
Västerås City has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will become an important part of our selection work.
With us, you work with adults who often find themselves in complex life situations where the need for support is great. In the role of social worker, you will use your skills in qualified investigative work and in close collaboration with other actors. Together, we create conditions for lasting change.
We are now looking for three social workers for two fixed-term positions until December 31, 2026, and one temporary position until June 30, 2027.
Your Responsibilities
As a social worker with us, you will have an independent and varied role where you investigate, assess, and follow up on interventions according to the Social Services Act and LVM. Through close collaboration with actors such as Västerås outpatient care, other units within social services, the region, and the police, you will make a difference in every meeting and conversation with your clients.
With us, you will receive thorough introduction, mentorship support, and training in MI and ASI if you do not already have it. We value continuous development and also offer external supervision and counseling support when needed.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree in social work, behavioral science, or another bachelor's degree that we consider relevant for the position. Your education should include social law, or you have experience working with the target group or within public authority. We prefer that you have knowledge of social services and experience working with the Social Services Act, LVM, or LVU. Since your responsibilities include writing reports and assessments, it is important that you feel confident documenting and expressing yourself in writing.
You will thrive in the role if you have a genuine interest in investigation and public authority, as well as a strong commitment to the target group. We are looking for someone who is secure, responsible, and proactive, and who sees solutions even in challenging situations. Close collaboration with other professionals, authorities, and care providers requires clear communication and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment. If you have a B driver's license, we see it as an advantage.
We Offer
With us, you will encounter not just a workplace, but a meaningful mission where you become part of a warm and dedicated team. We believe in people's ability to change and together we create pathways forward, even when it is tough. We work with adults over 18 years old, often with dependency issues combined with mental health challenges, and make a difference every day. Our office is located in the Social Services building in Västerås, in a modern and activity-based work environment. We believe in trust and freedom under responsibility. This means you plan your workday yourself, have flexible hours, and the opportunity to work remotely part of the time.
Here, you will be part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in both big and small matters. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you will have Sweden's most important job.

Additional Information
During the interview, you will need to prove your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or a personal certificate along with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only occur after verification of the work permit, which is required according to the Aliens Ordinance. All offers of recruitment and advertising assistance are declined.
