The City Planning Office is planning for a future Stockholm on behalf of the City Planning Committee. We work with urban planning both at a strategic and detailed level, building permits, city measurement, property formation, and housing adaptation. The City Planning Office has about 340 employees and we are centrally located in Kungsholmen, about a ten-minute walk from Stockholm Central Station. About us

The City Planning Office is planning for a future Stockholm on behalf of the City Planning Committee. We are approximately 300 employees working with comprehensive and detailed planning, building permits, city measurement, property formation, and housing adaptation.

The Strategy and Development Unit, in the Planning Department, is responsible for the city's comprehensive planning and overarching physical planning for housing supply, workplaces, infrastructure, sustainability, climate adaptation, public services, and the protection of nature and cultural environments. We are about sixteen urban planning strategists and GIS analysts who collaborate and leverage each other's different competencies and have a close cooperation within the office and throughout the city. You will report to the unit manager for strategy and development.

The Role

We are now looking for an experienced process leader for comprehensive planning. You will lead the work on Stockholm's new comprehensive plan – a living urban planning vision that guides the city's decisions and priorities for sustainable development. Once the comprehensive plan is complete, you will lead the ongoing process to implement and follow up on the plan. This is a creative and strategic assignment in a long-term, dynamic process where co-creation, development, and new knowledge interact. Comprehensive planning is a team effort, and many contribute – Stockholm residents, professional actors, and community building stakeholders are invited to participate from the start.

The role includes tasks related to comprehensive planning, such as coordinating inter-municipal issues and other strategic assignments, as well as responding to related motions and referrals.

Your Education and Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• an academic degree at the equivalent master's level in physical planning, urban planning, or other education deemed relevant by the employer.
• several years of experience in comprehensive planning, strategic physical planning, or other experience deemed relevant by the employer.
• knowledge of the physical design of cities and its significance.
• several years of experience in process leadership.
• leadership experience.
• experience with the possibilities of GIS and related digital tools.
• comprehensive knowledge of PBL and related legislation.
• good ability to communicate with various stakeholder groups in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

It is advantageous if you have education and experience in design processes, leadership, and/or communication.
