Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions

We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Welcome to us

Here we work evidence-based and purposefully to help our clients achieve self-sufficiency! The area of financial assistance is divided into five units, including one reception unit and four investigation units.

As of July 1, the new Social Services Act came into force. The law's clear ambition is for social services to become more accessible, equitable, preventive, and knowledge-based. In this work, the best interests of the child, a holistic view, and trust in meeting the individual are at the center. To meet the law's intentions and strengthen our work with families with children, we are now increasing the number of social workers in our area. Therefore, we are looking for you who want to contribute to a more preventive and long-term social work where the goal is to highlight the needs of children, reduce the risk of long-term dependency on assistance, and strengthen families' opportunities for self-sufficiency.

Welcome with your application!

We offer

  • The opportunity to be involved in creating and influencing working methods in an organization that is undergoing change and development in line with the new Social Services Act.
  • The opportunity to work more focused and qualitatively with families with children.
  • Collegial support, supervision, and professional development.

As an employee with us, you have a wellness allowance and the opportunity to take advantage of favorable offers from several gym chains and swimming pools. Please read more about our benefits here.

Your role

In the role of social worker focusing on families with children, you will:

  • Work preventively by early identifying needs for support and collaborating with other actors, both internally and externally.
  • Prioritize and participate in special initiatives for parents in families with children who have long-term assistance needs, aiming to promote employment establishment and increased self-sufficiency.
  • Consider and apply the principle of the best interests of the child in all assessments, both from economic and social aspects.
  • Investigate, assess, and make decisions about financial assistance according to the Social Services Act.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for you who have:

  • A degree in social work.
  • Experience with financial assistance.

To thrive in the role, you are innovative and solution-focused, motivated to shape working methods and collaboration that make a real difference in line with the new Social Services Act. You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working together with others to achieve common goals. You work goal- and result-oriented with a focus on children's rights perspective and sustainable solutions for families with children who have long-term assistance needs, where you see the whole family's situation and make fair and equal assessments.

Your application

We recruit without a personal letter in this recruitment to strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role. In assessing your application, we will only base it on your CV and a number of questions you will need to answer when applying for the position. We ask that you respond concretely and briefly to the questions, and that there is a clear connection between your answers and your CV. The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competencies and thus counteracting discrimination.
