We are now looking for a committed and meticulous accounting economist who wants to become part of our wonderful team! With us, you will work broadly with accounting in a dynamic environment where we support each other and develop together. If you enjoy working with numbers, appreciate structure, and want to work in an organization where you can truly make a difference – then I hope you apply for the position! Welcome with your application! Location: Borlänge.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future and sustainability of our planet. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges that connect our cities, and in tomorrow's cars. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. Therefore, we have developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and have committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

You will belong to our team within Global Business Services, GBS. This is SSAB's shared services function. Being part of GBS means having colleagues in similar roles in Finland and Poland. Within GBS, we work to deliver common, harmonized, and cost-effective services to SSAB's divisions, group finance, and other stakeholders (internal and external customers).

Working within GBS is developmental as we constantly improve and develop processes. The job is about providing service while also supporting and challenging our customers.

In your work, you will have contacts with the business, subsidiaries, auditors, and authorities both in Sweden and abroad. Since we have operations in several locations, travel may occur as part of the job.

Your main responsibilities

  • Ongoing issues related to accounting, taxes, and VAT as well as bookkeeping and reconciliations.
  • Various accounting issues from the business.
  • Management of fixed assets.
  • VAT management (both Swedish VAT with foreign trade and foreign VAT).
  • Reporting of taxes and fees, energy taxes, etc.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Preparation of annual reports.
  • Group reporting to our headquarters in Stockholm.
  • External reporting to authorities, SCB, auditors, etc.

About you

  • You have a university degree in economics, preferably with a focus on accounting, and a few years of experience in accounting work.
  • You have good knowledge of current accounting, VAT, and tax regulations.
  • You have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as well as in the Office suite, especially Excel.
  • If you are IT-interested and can combine that with accounting, we see it as an asset.
  • You are structured, meticulous, and analytical and deliver good quality within given deadlines.
  • You are service-oriented and cooperative with good communication skills.
  • You have an interest in process development, as it is part of the job to strive for continuous improvements.

Our offer

At SSAB, diversity and inclusion are part of our culture. We use our values – driving, genuine, and one step ahead – in our daily decision-making, always with the customer in focus. This makes us all team players, with a common goal of improving ourselves. When you start at SSAB, you become part of an organization with passionate problem solvers who work together on important challenges. We will support your growth by offering a safe and friendly workplace that contributes to the balance between work and private life. At SSAB, you have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge and grow.

We offer a wide range of appreciated benefits to our employees. Here are some examples:
