The Economic Unit consists of finance, accounting, and procurement. Our mission towards politicians, civil servants, municipal companies, and residents is to provide knowledge support, service, and to develop the municipality's financial processes. As an economic unit, we are committed to continuously improving the quality of financial management, reporting, and our procurement processes. Avesta Municipality is looking for a temporary economist for the economic unit of the municipal office. The position is full-time and is a temporary assignment, with the possibility of extension.

As an economist, you will primarily work with the customer process and have a particular responsibility for accounts receivable. Your tasks include payments, reminder management, and customer invoicing. You will have daily contact with both internal operations and external customers and citizens. Avesta Municipality is in a development phase with increased digitization and automation, which means you will also work in new systems and contribute to the development of new working methods.

You will be part of the finance department within the municipal office and collaborate with management economists, accountants, and colleagues working with procurement.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree in finance or another relevant academic qualification deemed equivalent. You have theoretical knowledge in accounting and bookkeeping, good experience with financial systems and IT-based programs, and express yourself well in Swedish both orally and in writing. Experience working in various financial systems, accounting, and digital working methods is an advantage.

To succeed in this role, you are structured, meticulous, and quality-conscious. You are service-oriented, collaborate well with others, and have a professional and accommodating demeanor. You are also development-oriented and see opportunities in new ideas, methods, and working practices. A good numerical analytical ability and the capacity to work within given frameworks are seen as a good foundation for the assignment.
