PhD Candidate in Health Sciences - Sustainable and Healthy Eating Habits
We are now looking for a PhD candidate in health sciences for the project “Sustainable and Healthy Eating Habits”.
Are you interested in improving eating habits for young adults?
As a PhD candidate, you will be part of a project that addresses the societal challenge of promoting sustainable and healthy eating habits. The project constitutes one of two PhD projects within this initiative. The specific PhD project Collaborative approaches to marketing healthy food to young adults: Healthcare meets marketing expertise aims to improve eating habits and knowledge about diet and health, known as food literacy, among young adults aged 16–25 years. The goal is to develop effective marketing strategies through collaboration between healthcare and the retail sector. The project includes studies mapping attitudes, barriers, and opportunities related to young adults' eating habits, as well as testing the effects of various marketing strategies using different methods.
As a PhD candidate, you will work alongside another PhD candidate in an interdisciplinary and cross-institutional research environment FOHRK (Food, Health and Retail, Kristianstad) that focuses on food, health, and trade. Through collaboration with industry, the public sector, and society, FOHRK drives interdisciplinary initiatives to promote a more sustainable society.
As a PhD candidate, you will be part of a larger context through the KK Foundation's initiative for future collaborative researchers. You will be part of a national PhD group, where Kristianstad University is one of 22 institutions participating. The KK Foundation organizes mandatory collaborative activities, such as seminars and workshops throughout the PhD period.
You will be part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Please read more about our research at www.hkr.se/forskning (http://www.hkr.se/forskning)
Job Responsibilities
As a PhD candidate, you will participate in the overall activities of the current research project, but also work independently on your own dissertation work, which includes mandatory and elective courses. The work involves research on fibers and how they can be used to create attractive products; your tasks will also include oral and written scientific communication of research results. The PhD position consists largely of data collection and analysis as well as the publication of scientific articles.
You will be employed and have your workplace at Kristianstad University and be affiliated with the research environment FOHRK. Within FOHRK, you will work together with another PhD candidate within the same overarching project. Here, you will have the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary context alongside researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders who share the goal of promoting sustainability and health, providing access to a strong network.
As a PhD candidate, you will be part of a seminar group with other PhD candidates. In addition to dissertation work, the doctoral education includes mandatory and elective courses at the doctoral level. The mandatory courses are offered at Kristianstad University, but courses offered by other institutions may also be relevant.
There is a possibility that the doctoral education includes institutional service, i.e., teaching and administration, but no more than 20 percent of full-time.
Eligibility and Qualifications
To be eligible for doctoral education, you must meet the requirements for basic and specific eligibility and have the necessary ability to complete the education. To be admitted to doctoral education, you must have basic eligibility through a completed degree at the advanced level, or completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at the advanced level, or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge (HF, Chapter 7, § 39). To meet the specific eligibility requirement for admission to doctoral education in health sciences at Kristianstad University, you must have at least 90 higher education credits with a health science focus relevant to health sciences, or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge (HF Chapter 7, § 40).

At Kristianstad University, the following assessment criteria are applied: previous study results, the quality of previous independent work, motivation and expectations for doctoral education, theoretical awareness, ability to receive supervision, ability to work independently, as well as linguistic and analytical ability.
You have good computer skills and can communicate well both orally and in writing in Swedish and English. It is essential that you can communicate and interact with different groups. Experience working with lifestyle habits is an advantage. You collaborate well with others in a responsive and flexible manner. At the same time, you are self-driven, analytical, pedagogical, and take responsibility for your tasks and structure your work.
