Welcome to us at the preschool Norrskenet in Södermalm!

Our profile is that we are a preschool focused on Sámi and Meänkieli in an urban environment.

At Norrskenet, children with roots or connections to Sápmi/Sámi or Tornedalen/Meänkieli have the opportunity to develop and preserve their national minority language, culture, and cultural identity.

We work together with the children for a revitalization of the Sámi and Meänkieli languages. We work with the culture and history that the languages carry – and aim for the children at Norrskenet to become bearers of cultural values. Here, the children are in focus, and we work to help them develop their self-esteem, trust in others, and a positive outlook for the future.

Currently, we have one preschool teacher and one childcare worker at the preschool. Norrskenet is integrated and shares premises with the preschool Orion and belongs to the Rosenlund preschool unit.

Your role

We are primarily looking for a preschool teacher. This is the only preschool in Stockholm city with this profile, and we are looking for candidates with a background or roots in Tornedalen and/or Sápmi who have the ability to convey the culture and history that the languages carry while working with the children. Due to this profile, we encourage both preschool teachers and childcare workers to apply for this unique position.

In your role as a preschool teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing teaching and leading processes towards set goals while ensuring the children's opportunities to develop and learn in accordance with the curriculum and school law. As a preschool teacher, you will work towards a positive and developing environment with a good balance of care and learning that is created daily for each child and for the entire group. You will also have the competence and experience to work with your colleagues to develop the preschool's educational environments. In the role of preschool teacher, you will lead your team.

If you are a childcare worker, your tasks will look as follows:

As a childcare worker with us, you contribute to ensuring that the everyday life at the preschool functions well and that care and education are based on children's participation, influence, and scientific grounding. Together with other colleagues at the preschool, you contribute to a positive, meaningful, and developing environment for all children.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• preschool teacher certification or childcare worker diploma
• practical experience in educational activities
• a background or roots in Tornedalen or Sápmi
• knowledge of Meänkieli and/or Sámi with its language variations
• an interest in conveying Tornedalian and/or Sámi culture.

It is an advantage if you have:

• experience with digital learning platforms
• experience with Tempus
• experience working in Stockholm city.

We are looking for someone who is engaged and genuinely interested in working with children and has good pedagogical insight. You are a collaborative team player who easily builds trust and good relationships with children, colleagues, and guardians. At the same time, you work independently, have the ability to reflect on your work, and actively contribute to a safe and developing environment.

Other

The preschool's operating hours are 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Working hours are scheduled, and you need to be able to work with all age groups, 1–5 years. A large part of the teaching takes place outdoors, regardless of weather and season.
