Art Educator with Exhibition Responsibility for Children, Schools & Studio
Permanent part-time position (60%) with evening and weekend work required (six-month probationary period applies). Start as soon as possible by agreement.
Do you want to open the world of art to children and young people?
As an art educator with exhibition responsibility for children, schools, and studio, you will primarily work with children and young people in school programs and during leisure time, under the guidance of the museum's educational curators. Your tasks include welcoming school groups to the museum and conducting weekend and holiday activities for families in the museum's studios.
Main Responsibilities
As an art educator with exhibition responsibility, your main tasks will be operational and related to open public activities. You will implement developed programs and exhibitions and will:
- welcome school groups to the museum for tours and studio programs
- conduct weekend and holiday activities for families in the museum's studios
- conduct tours of the collection presentation and temporary exhibitions
- conduct workshops for young adults and adults in the museum's studios
You need a well-founded experience in oral communication and facilitation of discussions about art. You have good experience in leading creative processes and working with various materials and artistic techniques. Experience in pedagogical work with children is required, and you need a good knowledge of the museum's areas of operation and collections.
Requirements
- You should have a university degree in the field of art or culture (Fil. Kand/BA) or equivalent work experience and individual training that corresponds to this formal competence.
- You should have at least 3 years of professional experience working with children.
- You should have at least 3 years of professional experience working with art education in cultural or art institutions.
- You should have at least 1 year of experience in presenting and communicating the National Museum's areas of collection.
- You should be able to communicate well in both Swedish and English.
Meritorious
- Documented language skills beyond Swedish and English.
- Documented training in oral presentation/oral storytelling.
- Documented experience of longer participant-based art educational projects.
Personal Qualities
In your role as an art educator, you will meet visitors, primarily children but also adults, in booked groups and drop-in activities. Being able to engage and meet participants where they are, create positive encounters, and be a creative problem solver is important. Collaboration with others is ongoing and requires good teamwork skills and social competence. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
