Research Education Subject

The doctoral candidate's dissertation work will be conducted within the framework of child and youth studies. Child and youth studies is a multidisciplinary field where the lives of children and young people are studied, focusing on upbringing, living conditions, and social interaction. Theoretical and methodological knowledge is drawn from disciplines across the humanities and social sciences. Children's and young people's own perspectives on their experiences are a central interest within the field, as are the cultural aspects surrounding children's and young people's everyday lives, where critical perspectives are applied to how childhood and youth are formulated and the consequences this has. Various societal arenas are studied, such as family, school, and other societal institutions, as well as children and youth in media, during leisure time, and in civil society. Children's experiences and perspectives on the practice of leisure centers are also central to the subject.
