Description

As a central career and guidance counselor at the Department of Education, you will work with overarching career guidance issues and be part of the administrative unit at the education office.

Under this unit lies the municipality's activity responsibility where you, as a career counselor, work with young people aged 16 to 20 who are neither working nor studying. You will also collaborate with career counselors at the municipality's grades 7 to 9 schools to ensure smooth transitions to high school. The position also includes some regulatory duties, assisting decision-makers in admissions work, and formulating documentation for decisions to the education board. Collaboration with the central special educator in the reception of newly arrived individuals at the administrative level is also part of the role.

You will work closely with other colleagues. Here, you will contribute to the whole while being an important expert in your field. The primary tasks of the administrative unit are to support our own operations, carry out regulatory duties, and drive development work. The workgroup collaborates closely, where joy and a desire to develop permeate the organization. There are good opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, implement, evaluate, document, and report on the work within the municipality's activity responsibility
• Collaborate with businesses, educational providers, and other authorities
• Collaborate with grades 1–6 operations in the municipality regarding career guidance for younger ages
• Collaborate and network with career counselors within and outside the municipality
• Work with the reception of newly arrived individuals at the administrative level
• Assist decision-makers for the transferring municipality with high school admission work
• Work with documentation and decisions regarding accommodation for high school students, folk high school
• In collaboration with other functions within the unit, participate, follow up, and evaluate the overarching goals of the operations.
• Be responsible for the municipality's workplace-based education (VFU) in collaboration with educational institutions

Qualifications

• You are an educated career counselor, preferably with additional training in career development
• Good knowledge of M365
• You have documented experience working with career guidance within primary and secondary schools as well as KAA and at the administrative level.
• You can live up to Vaxholm's core values of Collaboration, Engagement, and Respect in your work
• You are flexible and have the ability to work independently as well as with others.
• You are meticulous, professional, structured, and enjoy working in a team.
• Experience as a system administrator
• Experience working with newly arrived individuals is an advantage
