The Culture and Leisure Administration makes Botkyrka healthier, stronger, and more creative! We ensure that there is a rich cultural and sports life with many different leisure activities to choose from in the municipality. We contribute to vibrant and safe living environments and enable Botkyrka residents to develop their interests. With meaningful leisure time, people feel better, which strengthens public health. With over 200 employees, we are responsible for libraries, swimming pools, cultural schools, art halls, open leisure activities, sports facilities, and public health parks.

The area of Arts and Libraries consists of Botkyrka Art Hall and Botkyrka Libraries, which comprise six libraries, all shaped in interaction with their local areas and with the residents as co-actors.

The vision of Botkyrka Libraries is for the libraries to be a driving force in the work with local democratic development, human rights, and interculturality.

The library operations aim to promote a long-term sustainable society by contributing to reducing inequality and opportunity gaps. The libraries create literary, cultural, and intercultural encounters, contribute to increased knowledge levels, and promote public health.

Botkyrka Art Hall presents contemporary art in all its forms. The activities of Botkyrka Art Hall consist of artistic productions in the exhibition space in Tumba, in public spaces, or in published form through the publisher Labyrint Press. By stimulating and highlighting the local art scene while connecting to an international art arena, new audiences are inspired to approach contemporary art, creating new contexts for art and audiences.

The international residency program Residence Botkyrka invites artists, architects, chefs, and curators to work from the place Fittja and Botkyrka. Fittjaköket + FörOrten is a new meeting place for art, food, and architecture in Fittja. It is a kitchen and project space in container form. Here, the shape and content of the place are created by and with residents, associations, schools, artists, architects, chefs, local and invited actors.

Botkyrka Art Hall currently faces several exciting challenges, focusing on method development to increase the participation of Botkyrka residents, aiming to create a relevant cultural activity and thereby a sense of ownership among our municipal residents.

We are now looking for an operations manager for the new area of “Arts, Libraries, and Cultural Schools.”

The Culture and Leisure Administration in Botkyrka is characterized by engagement, a desire for development, and a strong focus on citizens. Here is a brief overview of the activities included in the operations manager's responsibilities:

Botkyrka Art Hall is the place that reaches new target groups and makes them believe in the power of art and creativity. With a multifaceted program, the boundaries of art's role in society are stretched, providing space for stories that visitors can both recognize, be inspired by, and challenged by. With a strong focus on art educational projects, mentorship, local anchoring, and contemporary art, a broad and specialized operation is offered.

The libraries located in the various districts work closely with the residents living there. Each library is unique and has activities based on the location they operate in. Each library should be the best for those who live there, which gives them different characteristics. What is common to all libraries is the focus on building relationships with citizens. The employees at the libraries are extremely engaged, and the activities are buzzing with events, often in collaboration with other operations and administrations.

The cultural school is present in all parts of the municipality – all children and young people should have the chance to discover the wonderful activities. We have low thresholds for entering the activities, both courses and a wide range of open activities in various forms. There is enormous competence and a strong drive in the operation to develop and expand. Within the cultural school, interdisciplinary work is also conducted, adding an extra dimension to the work.

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science or another relevant higher education. You are analytical, structured, flexible, proactive, and used to thinking strategically. In change, you have the ability to see opportunities. You can weigh complex information and make wise choices. You are accustomed to working in a politically governed organization.

You are a senior leader and manager who is used to leading in change and is driven by providing your employees with the conditions to develop and take space for the best of the operation. You are unpretentious and can be vulnerable, own your mistakes, and apologize if something goes wrong. You can also stand up for what you believe in. You are trustworthy without being limitless. And a little humor is never wrong!

You report to the administrative director and are part of their management team. You will lead the management team of the operational area, which consists of you and five fantastic unit managers. Together, you will be able to take the operation to new heights!
