Teaching Assistants Wanted at Hästhagsskolan
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to Us
Hästhagsskolan is a K-9 school, including adapted primary school, with a maximum capacity of approximately 700 students.
The school is located in Farsta, in close proximity to the center, public transport, and green areas.
We collaborate with other schools in Farsta to provide equitable education in a safe environment. We want our school to be the best option and the natural choice for all children and young people living in our area and the best school for all students who attend here!
We are now looking for
Two competent and experienced teaching assistants who can work with us during the spring.
We Offer
You will have the opportunity to work in a school with brand new facilities and join a staff group with a good working climate and a strong desire to collaborate to achieve common goals.
Your Role
As a teaching assistant, you will help students who, for various reasons, need support to keep up with the teaching and the school's other activities. The work aims to help students develop as much as possible, based on their own conditions, in accordance with the educational goals.
Together with teachers and other staff at the school, you will work to create a developing, meaningful, and positive environment for the students. Care and supervision of students are other important parts of the assignment. The tasks are varied, diverse, and sometimes challenging.
We are now looking for two teaching assistants for two different assignments during the spring:
- The first position is primarily aimed at a student with extensive needs in schoolwork and social situations who has a great need for adult support in their daily life. This may involve supporting the student in social situations during school hours (including conflict management), assisting in various activities during breaks, in changing rooms, meals, or on excursions, outdoor days, etc. It may also involve managing individualized medical care/helping students with self-care.
- The second position is aimed at two students in middle school who have previously attended an adapted primary school and are now starting in regular primary school. The students have significant needs for support in teaching and social interaction. The work includes supporting the students in the classroom with teaching as well as during breaks, in sports, in the cafeteria, etc. You will have close collaboration with the teaching teacher where you will receive instructions and collaborate on how the work should be performed. The work is carried out both independently and together with others in the staff.
Your Competence and Experience
For position no. 1, you need the following competence and experience:
- The work requires that you have patience and can adapt your communication and approach based on the situation. You are secure, trust-building, and realize the importance of being an adult role model.
- You have experience in handling conflicts and working with children/students with challenging behaviors.
- You can work independently and take initiative. In your interactions with students and guardians, you are clear and responsive to the students' needs.
- You are empathetic and use a low-arousal approach when interacting with students. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
- You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish in both speech and writing.
For position number 2, you need the following competence and experience:
- For this position, you need to have good experience in supporting students in teaching situations and possess good pedagogical competence.
- You should have experience working with students in adapted primary school or equivalent.
- You are calm, secure, and stable and find it easy to collaborate with others.
- You have good communication skills regarding students, colleagues, and guardians.
- You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish in both speech and writing. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Please indicate which of the two positions you are applying for in your application.
The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thereby combating discrimination.
