Workplace Description

The City of Stockholm organizes camp activities for children, youth, and young adults with disabilities.

Our campgrounds are located in scenic environments in Norrtälje and Sörmland. Attending camp means a change of environment, fun outdoor activities, and social interaction with others for our participants. For relatives, it provides relief in everyday life. Many of our employees have worked at our camps for a long time and return annually. Working as a camp leader is rewarding and educational, as you contribute to providing our participants with a wonderful and memorable holiday filled with joy and relaxation.

We are now looking for staff for our Granhill camp during the winter and Easter holidays in 2026.

We are looking for you who enjoy working together with others and want to help create a meaningful stay for our participants.

Granhill (Norrtälje, Barnens ö)

Dates:

  • Winter Holiday -> February 20 - February 28
  • Easter Holiday -> April 3 - April 11

During both the winter and Easter holidays, participants with autism and intellectual disabilities will come to Granhill. Granhill is a place filled with emotions, and your task as a camp leader is to support communication and daily living skills, address challenging behaviors, and offer a balance of activities. We use communication aids and always work in a low-arousal manner.

At Granhill, you need to be confident in your role, able to handle unforeseen events, and not afraid to face challenging situations. It is advantageous if you have previously worked with challenging behaviors and/or autism in, for example, schools or other care settings.

We Offer

During the first two working days of each period, you will receive thorough training for the job alongside your new colleagues. You will learn the camp's routines, working methods, and participate in preparations for the participants' arrival. You will live with your colleagues in the associated staff accommodation. We work according to a rolling schedule where working hours primarily occur during the day and evening.

Your Skills and Experience

To fit the role, you need to be calm, stress-resistant, and have great patience. You communicate pedagogically and can easily adapt to different situations. You collaborate well and are confident in yourself and in interacting with new people. In this recruitment, we place great importance on the aforementioned skills, personal suitability, and engagement.

Requirements for all positions:

  • High school education
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
  • At least 1 year of work experience or equivalent

Other

To work at camp, you need to present a valid extract from the criminal record. When applying for the position, you need to answer several questions, one of which concerns the criminal record. As a camp leader, you will also need to complete training in working safely with medications. In the event of employment, you must present a valid diploma for the completed training before your first working day.
