Assistant Planning Area Leader at FST CIO

The Defense Staff (FST) supports the Supreme Commander by processing and preparing matters at a military strategic level, ensuring that decisions made by the authority's management are implemented, followed up, and reported back. FST also has an overarching responsibility for coordinating infrastructure and material supply, contributing to the Armed Forces' ability to defend Sweden. FST CIO is responsible for the Armed Forces' ability to command and conduct command warfare in joint operations nationally and with others as allies in NATO.

The Armed Forces are in a dynamic growth phase to build a stronger defense of Sweden. The material component of command systems plays a crucial role in this growth, including the command of the Armed Forces' combat units and information gathering. This material growth is led from the FST CIO Materiel Section.

About the Section

The position of Assistant Planning Area Leader (Bitr POL) belongs to the Materiel Section of the Unit and Materiel Department at FST CIO. The Materiel Section supports the Armed Forces' Chief of Command Systems by leading the development, procurement, maintenance, and decommissioning of material systems within the command area. We work in close dialogue with FMV, FOI, FST CIO Functional Management Department, and FST CIO Unit Section.

Main Responsibilities

The Materiel Section is now looking for an Assistant POL who, together with the POL, has a key role in coordinating and developing FST CIO's long-term material planning. As an Assistant POL, you will support the development and follow-up of the FST CIO material plan as well as the consolidation of orders, assignments, and renegotiations related to command system material.

You will support the work with FST CIO's part in the Armed Forces' budget proposal to the government by coordinating change needs and compiling financial data. You will propose and follow up on effect-generating measures to support the Armed Forces' growth by developing working methods, models, and routines for material planning and production follow-up.

You will work closely with the POL, where your main contacts are FMV, material area managers, FST CIO Planning Manager, FST CIO finance function, and other functional representatives within FST CIO as well as the FST Support Unit.

The position is located at FST CIO at the Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in technology, economics, and logistics or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Several years of current and relevant experience in business management covering planning, control, follow-up, and analysis
  • Current and relevant experience from the Armed Forces or FMV
  • Very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and a good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in English

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is responsible, structured, and solution-oriented. You have a knack for seeing connections and enjoy both independent work and teamwork. You have a good ability to plan your work and adhere to deadlines. You contribute to a good working climate through good collaboration skills, both within the workgroup, the rest of the Armed Forces, and with external partners. You are comfortable handling complex information and working in a dynamic organization. Being an Assistant POL places high demands on responsibility and knowledge of the material systems for which FST CIO is responsible.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability for the position.

MERITORIOUS

  • Knowledge of the Armed Forces' planning and material supply processes
  • Knowledge of FST CIO's responsibilities within the material supply process
  • Good system proficiency, especially in Excel and SAP/PRIO
