Operations Coordinator for Makerspace Prototyping Lab

The Faculty Office at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media is part of Mid Sweden University's operational support.

About 25 people work here in Sundsvall and Östersund with case preparation, planning, follow-up, educational and research administration, as well as support to the faculty's management, committees, councils, and other operations.

We are now looking for an operations coordinator for the university's activities in the Makerspace prototyping lab. During the day, the operations are primarily conducted by Mid Sweden University. In the evenings and on weekends, activities are mainly run by the Sundsvall Makers association. External companies may sometimes have access to the premises.

The university's operations in Miun Makerspace restarted in 2022, and in 2024, a part-time operations coordinator was hired. Since then, the operations have grown, and we see a need for a full-time coordinator.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include leading, coordinating, and further developing the operations. The operations coordinator is the contact person and sounding board for both internal and external stakeholders and the spider in the web for the operations.

The responsibilities include planning and, where appropriate, leading activities in the Laundromat in dialogue with teachers, researchers, and external parties, planning and receiving study visits, and planning and leading workshops. The responsibilities also include some maintenance and repairs of equipment and premises, ordering materials, and conducting procurements. Simpler administrative tasks may also occur.

The responsibilities may be broadened to meet the requirements of the university and faculty management.

The work is performed in the university's premises on campus.

Your Background

We are looking for an independent person with a service-oriented approach, who is versatile and can take responsibility for the equipment and operations conducted in the Makerspace prototyping lab. You are structured and have many years of experience from similar tasks and operations. You have at least a bachelor's degree in design, good administrative and communication skills, IT competence, and the ability to work independently.

Desirable and Meritorious:

• Experience in driving projects and operational development.
• Documented experience in working with design.
• Good pedagogical skills and interest in technology-based learning.
• Very good ability to handle questions in dialogue with managers and employees.

Your Qualities

You must be able to express yourself very well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. Since the work involves many contacts both within and outside Mid Sweden University, great importance will be placed on your personal qualities, as well as initiative and collaborative and service skills. The tasks require a high level of accuracy.

Employment and Start Date

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date of 2026-02-01 by agreement.
