Unit Manager for Payroll Services in Gothenburg

We are now looking for a unit manager for our payroll services unit in Gothenburg. The position is located within the payroll services department, which operates in Gävle, Östersund, Gothenburg, Malmö, Norrköping, and Eskilstuna. The department is responsible for all service deliveries related to payroll management.

You will be responsible for one unit in Gothenburg and one unit in Malmö, delivering payroll services for 14 authorities within the university and higher education sector. Currently, there are about 30 employees in the units.

Main Responsibilities

As a leader, you are secure, clear, and have extensive experience in a similar role. You are a reliable support for the employees of the units and other colleagues in the department and within the authority. We want a leader who is motivated to develop their employees and build well-functioning teams. We work to implement, streamline, and automate our processes within the Swedish Public Service Center, and as a manager, it is important to drive standardization with a focus on both efficiency and customer benefit.

An important aspect of the role is to have a good understanding of the governmental regulations to find effective solutions together with the team. You must have the ability to lead, plan, and organize the payroll unit's work. You ensure that routines and work processes are followed and that deliveries maintain high quality and comply with applicable laws, agreements, and internal guidelines.

You listen to your employees and customers in a respectful manner, communicate clearly, and create a good understanding of goals, priorities, and changes. You handle challenging situations with good experience.

Together with colleagues in the department and from other parts of the authority, you ensure a coordinated delivery of services to the customers of the Swedish Public Service Center, which means a strong focus on collaboration both internally and with customers. You have personnel and budget responsibility for the units. The unit manager reports to the department head and is part of the department's management group, which consists of a total of eight unit managers.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant academic degree in HR or equivalent education deemed relevant by the employer
  • At least three years of experience as a manager with personnel and budget responsibility
  • Experience from payroll operations in the role of unit manager or equivalent
  • Experience in driving change
  • Several years of experience in qualified payroll management

Furthermore, you should have the following abilities:

  • Good leadership skills; being clear, secure, and motivating while creating engagement and participation
  • Structured and systematic
  • Communicative and express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • Development-oriented and thrive in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Good collaboration skills
  • The ability to listen, communicate, and resolve disagreements

Additionally, it is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in service center operations within the administrative area

Other

The position is 100% and permanent. Appointment according to agreement. We apply a six-month probationary period. The position is located in Gothenburg. This employment requires a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act. As an employee, you may also be assigned to defense duties based on the needs of total defense.
