Support Pedagogue Position within the Social Administration
The position is located within the Social Administration, one of eight administrations in Linköping Municipality. The Social Administration is responsible for authority exercise, ordering services, and managing operations in the areas of individual and family care, LSS, and social psychiatry. Your Responsibilities
We will be expanding the number of places with us and are looking for someone who wants to help develop the operations forward!
As a support pedagogue, you will work with individuals who have intellectual disabilities, often in combination with neuropsychiatric diagnoses. An important part of the job is to provide individualized support, which means responding to each person pedagogically based on their needs and current well-being. Currently, we do not know the extent of the support needs for the future residents. Therefore, you need to be willing to help create working methods that function with us in collaboration with your future colleagues, staff from the current residence of the users, the individual, and other stakeholders.
Your responsibilities include providing support in both daily life and leisure activities, personal care, health, and functional ability. You provide pedagogical support and work intentionally to help the individual use and develop their abilities as independently as possible. The work also includes being the link to society where you may need to assist in communication with authorities and healthcare. In addition to these tasks, you will also clean, do laundry, shop, and manage medications.
You are the contact person and are responsible for structuring and planning the individual's daily life together with them. You are also responsible for updating and revising the implementation plan and keeping it current. As a support pedagogue, you also have a complementary task to inspire, monitor the external environment, and support colleagues in the methods and tools used pedagogically in the operations.
Your Workplace
Lilla Åby is a rural group home in Slaka. Here, individuals with intellectual disabilities live, leading to significant support needs. There are both challenging behaviors and personal care involved.
Currently, we have four places on the property and will receive two new houses during the winter to accommodate two more users. Each user lives in a separate house, and we also have a dedicated staff area.
Today, 18 colleagues work on the property, and we see a need to expand the workgroup to meet the increased number of places.
Your working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and every other weekend. It may also become relevant to work on-call overnight.
Who You Are
You who are applying for the position should have one of the following qualifications: YH education as a support pedagogue, leisure leader, treatment pedagogue, social pedagogue of at least 200 YH points or a university degree of at least 60 credits in, for example, behavioral science or social care, or other relevant pedagogical education.
For the position, you need to have previous experience in personal care work. You also need to have experience with challenging behavior and working from a low-arousal approach. It is advantageous if you have experience working with individuals who have intellectual disabilities and/or neuropsychiatric diagnoses.
For the position, it is also advantageous to have experience with pedagogical working methods and alternative augmentative communication. It is also advantageous if you have experience in establishing implementation plans and working based on the Individual's Needs in Focus (IBIC).
The work involves a lot of contacts and documentation, which means that it is a requirement that you can communicate verbally and in writing in Swedish and document in digital systems. For the position, you need to have a B driver's license for manual transmission.
You are self-driven and take responsibility for your tasks and drive your work forward. You also work well with others and listen and communicate clearly, with the ability to adapt your communication style. It is also important that you have an empathetic ability and can put yourself in others' perspectives and situations. Additionally, you have a good understanding of how different individuals absorb knowledge and their varying conditions. You can adapt your message accordingly.
