JOB DESCRIPTION

As a probation officer, you will be responsible for conditionally released clients and clients sentenced to probation who are under supervision. The probation service is responsible for intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, known as an electronic tag, and community service. The probation service also enforces the sanction of youth supervision and conducts personal investigations and provides opinions to the court where we propose appropriate sanctions.

The work within the probation service largely consists of investigative work, conducting risk and needs assessments, and establishing plans for enforcement. As a probation officer, you actively participate in the influence work directed at clients, including structured conversations based on CBT, motivating participation in program activities, and assisting in release preparations for clients incarcerated in prison.

The work as a probation officer consists of support and control. If the client does not comply with their enforcement, you must be able to manage non-compliance in accordance with regulations. You need to be able to handle the complexity of working with both support and control functions, which can be a challenge.

We are now looking for probation officers for the Probation Service in Linköping.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has good self-awareness. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's conditions. In your professional practice, you have good judgment and integrity. As a probation officer, you need to have good collaboration skills and be able to communicate clearly. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires it.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree (at least bachelor's level), preferably in behavioral science, law, social work, criminology, or social sciences, or other academic education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • A valid driver's license (B).

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Well-documented work experience in corrections, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work.
  • Current experience of working in probation.
  • Experience from several operational areas within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
  • Experience in documentation and case management.
  • Experience in investigative work.
  • Experience in supervision management and enforcement planning.
