Coordinator with Responsibility for EU Funding
MSB works for a safer society in a changing world with a focus on the development of civil defense. As of January 1, 2026, we will be the Authority for Civil Defense. The Authority for Civil Defense has two clear roles: we are the leading, directing, and coordinating authority in civil defense, and we are the sector-responsible authority for the preparedness sector of rescue services and protection of the civilian population. The vision of the Authority for Civil Defense is 'Together for a Strong Civil Defense.'
Do you want to contribute to a safer society in a changing world? Then you might be our next colleague!
Your Responsibilities and Tasks
In the role of coordinator with responsibility for EU funding, you will need to stay updated on current and upcoming funding opportunities within the EU and propose possible funding arrangements in dialogue with relevant departments.
The role also includes providing strategic guidance and practical advice regarding project applications. The coordinator is expected to work closely with project economists and lawyers. The focus is on supporting and coordinating funding opportunities for prioritized activities within the authority. Information regarding calls for proposals may also need to be shared externally. The position is primarily focused on EU funding but may also encompass other types of international collaborations and funding forms. Your tasks will also include, among other things:
- being responsible for the authority's processes and routines for EU funding in close collaboration with economists, lawyers, and relevant departments.
- identifying and analyzing relevant EU funding opportunities and proactively informing relevant parts of the authority. This includes providing support and guidance throughout the work process.
- engaging in dialogue about EU funding issues internally with operational managers and experts, as well as externally with the Government Offices, EU institutions, and other national and international actors.
- representing the authority in relevant national, international, and EU-related forums related to funding issues.
Your Knowledge and Competencies
We are looking for someone who has a relevant academic education and several years of work experience in EU funding, focusing on applying for funding and reporting back, as well as providing advice on EU calls for proposals. Furthermore, you have a very good ability to handle tasks that involve data collection, processing, and compiling complex information. You also have:
- a very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
- experience working with policy issues related to EU funding.
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience with, for example, the Regional Development Fund, Civil Protection Mechanism, and Defense Fund.
- knowledge of MSB's organization and operations.
In all our work, both internally and externally, we must act based on the state value framework. Like all employees and leaders with us, you are expected to work in a mission-oriented, development-focused, dialogue-oriented manner, have good self-awareness, and contribute by being a role model.
As of January 1, 2026, the employee and leadership criteria will be replaced by the Authority for Civil Defense's approach for employees and leaders: The approaches apply in everyday life, crisis, and war. The three approaches should be seen as a whole and build on each other; collaborative – proactive - action-oriented.
We place great importance on your personal qualities. The work of the coordinator requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as flexibility and humility regarding the tasks at hand. The workload can be high at times and requires resilience, independence, the ability to prioritize, and a structured working method.
About the Employment
We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period. Your place of employment will be Karlstad or Stockholm at our Tomteboda office, and travel may occur as part of the employment.
The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. When placed in a security class, a security assessment with a background check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at MSB are placed in wartime.
