Substance Abuse Therapist with CBT Focus

The Substance Abuse and Dependency Unit (MBE) currently has two employees and we provide outpatient treatment, both in group and individual settings. We work with both assessed assistance measures and provide advice directly to residents of Kristinehamn. We also offer qualified family treatment.

Our unit belongs to the labor market, skills, and welfare administration. Our core mission is to provide support and help for people to become self-sufficient and live an independent life, to provide support, help, and services to children, youth, and adults through assessments and interventions, and to work for adult learning.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a substance abuse therapist, you will support individuals facing addiction issues, focusing on treatment based on CBT. In your work, you will meet people in various life situations and work both individually and in groups. Job responsibilities include various psychosocial interventions such as:

• assessment
• mapping
• establishing treatment plans
• follow-up of interventions
• family support
• relapse prevention
• testing
• group therapy.

You will use evidence-based methods such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and other relevant tools to help clients achieve their goals.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues in social services, health care, and other actors in the municipality. We offer a supportive work environment with regular supervision and opportunities for professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a trained alcohol and drug therapist, dependency therapist, have training focused on CBT, or other training relevant to the job. You need to have experience working with young adults.

It is an advantage if you have experience in digital addiction treatment and knowledge of ASI, Audit/Dudit, MI, and relapse prevention.

In this role, it is important that you are a secure person and can handle stressful situations calmly and steadily. You are also someone who maintains a good structure and ensures that the work progresses in an organized but flexible manner when needed.

In meetings and contact with colleagues, external parties, and clients, you find it easy to collaborate, where you listen and communicate in a responsive and pedagogical manner. You will meet individuals with various life situations and addiction issues, which makes it important that you can view this from their situation and perspective.
