Interim Security Manager in Gothenburg

We are currently seeking an interim security manager for a consulting assignment with our client in Gothenburg. Do you have several years of experience as an operational manager, preferably within security-related tasks? We warmly welcome you to submit your application!

Background

The Security Section at the Service Unit of the university currently consists of 16 employees, an acting security manager/section manager, and a vacant position for a deputy section manager. Recruitment for a permanent security manager is underway.

The section is responsible for developing and managing government-wide security issues related to physical security, personnel security, crisis management, security protection, systematic fire protection, and crisis preparedness at both strategic and operational levels. This is done through an active and systematic approach aimed at:

  • Ensuring that the University of Gothenburg provides a safe working and study environment for employees, students, and visitors, and is a secure partner
  • Protecting the university's material and immaterial values
  • Safeguarding the trust in the university

The section is currently in a phase of intensive operational development on several levels. New agreements have been procured, leading to new working methods and routines within the operational area, which requires continuous dialogue and follow-up with various stakeholders and operations. The section has also introduced Scrum as an agile working method for operational development, which means that many employees have taken on new roles and are more involved in continuous improvement work. A consultant has been procured as an agile coach to lead and assist in the implementation.

Job Description

The Security Section is looking for an interim manager for the role of deputy section manager. The interim manager will temporarily fill a vacancy while waiting for recruitment. The deputy section manager's task is to support the university's security manager in strategic security work and to act as a manager with personnel responsibility for the operational security resources consisting of security coordinators and security technicians.

The deputy section manager's duties include, among other things:

  • Calling and leading various internal meetings
  • Maintaining ongoing contact with employees both on-site and through other channels
  • Supporting the security manager in strategic security work
  • In collaboration with the security manager, various product owners, and agile coach, developing security work
  • Conducting employee evaluations and salary discussions and being involved in salary setting for security coordinators and security technicians
  • Representing the security section at internal meetings

The Security Section has office spaces and employees in shared facilities at Rosenlundsgatan 4 and has employees across the university's various campuses in Gothenburg. In the role of deputy section manager, you are expected to be present where the employees are, which means you will move across the entire area where the university operates.

Who are you?

The consultant made available must meet the following requirements:

  • Academic degree in a relevant field
  • You have completed leadership training
  • At least 3 years of experience as an operational manager
  • Good communication skills in Swedish.

It is advantageous if you meet the following:

  • More than 3 years of experience as an operational manager
  • At least 3 years of experience in security-related tasks
  • Experience in security and development work in some of the following areas: security technology, personnel security, or systematic fire protection
  • Experience and competence in agile working methods such as Scrum
  • Experience working in large complex organizations
  • Experience working in higher education or other public sector organizations.

You are offered

The assignment is part-time (50%) and will be performed on-site with our client in Gothenburg. Working hours will be allocated as needed and in agreement with the section manager. The assignment is expected to start immediately and continue until September 1, with an option for extension of up to 6 months.
