JOB DESCRIPTION

Do you want to lead a dedicated and competent department that plays an important role in community development? Do you have a passion for urban development and technical systems and are motivated to create results together with your team? We are now looking for a Department Head for our Development and Projects department.

Your department leads investment and reinvestment projects within water and sewage for the city. This includes responsibility for long-term planning, urban development, research and development for water and sewage systems, as well as stormwater, investment strategies, and responsibility for geographical data. Your mission as department head includes:

• Leading and developing the department by creating conditions for collaboration and efficiency
• Creating and maintaining good relationships both internally within and outside the organization
• Ensuring that we deliver projects and investigations with high quality and respect for the community goals we work towards
• Driving investment and reinvestment projects through all phases within the entire water and sewage area
• Being responsible for building and developing a strong management team with continuous development from both a management and operational perspective.
• Actively contributing to urban development in Gothenburg and safeguarding the city's common interests.
• Driving the administration forward through active participation in management

The organization merged at the turn of the year -25 from two urban development and project-driven departments into a phase-divided operation. The department consists of over 150 employees divided into two operational areas and 12 units, of which four managers report directly to you. The department has an operating budget of approximately 130 million and an investment budget of 1.5 billion. The organization has significant expertise within our mission, and as department head, it is important that you operate through your management team. In your role, you initially need to focus on establishing clear frameworks and processes for the new organization and interfaces with other departments. In the long term, your mission will be to ensure a resource-efficient operation and effective portfolio management, as well as strategic development of the city's drinking water, sewage, and stormwater. We need to increase the renewal rate in our water and sewage system while reducing environmental impact and securing the city for future climate changes, which means that you and your department are key players in shaping sustainable solutions for water and sewage in the future.

QUALIFICATIONS

The role of department head is a developing leadership role for those who want to influence and develop our operations. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in urban development and our technical systems, and respect for the community mission of our operations. You understand the importance of building strong collaborations and have the ability to balance both technical and organizational challenges. For us, this means that you have strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate across boundaries. You also need to be able to work strategically with the ability to break down long-term plans into short-term goals and activities.

To apply for the position, you need:

• Master's degree in a relevant field, such as civil engineering or equivalent
• Several years of managerial experience
• Experience in investment operations
• Experience in change management

It is an advantage if you also have:

• Experience as a manager of managers
• Experience in public operations
• Experience in developmental leadership

This position is security classified and requires Swedish citizenship as well as a successful security clearance consisting of, among other things, background checks, security interviews, and alcohol and drug tests.

Interviews are scheduled to be held during weeks 4 and 5.

As an employee of Circular Flow and Water, you will be assigned to a military position within the framework of Circular Flow and Water's role in total defense.
