We are looking for an Operations Manager at Chalmers Industriteknik together with Lighthouse – Sweden's collaboration platform for maritime research and innovation – for the operations in Gothenburg, as the current Operations Manager will leave in 2025.

Within Lighthouse, academia, institutes, authorities, and industry work together to ensure an efficient, sustainable, safe, and competitive maritime industry. Lighthouse contributes to effective collaboration between educational institutions, industry, and authorities. This is done through seminars, matchmaking, focus groups, feasibility studies, and projects. As the Operations Manager for Lighthouse, you are responsible for leading and developing the operations. A large part of the job consists of being an ambassador for Swedish maritime research by informing, making visible, and working for further funding for research and innovation programs. Another important task is to moderate the seminars and workshops that Lighthouse organizes. The Operations Manager also leads the office, which currently consists of two additional employees. This responsibility involves leading and distributing work and supporting employees, and together with them driving and developing the operations. Your formal manager is at Chalmers Industriteknik, but your main reporting is to the Lighthouse board.

Your main tasks include:

• Driving and developing Lighthouse operations according to agreements, operational plans, and board decisions
• Leading and distributing work within the Lighthouse office
• Strengthening and developing the Lighthouse network
• In collaboration with academia, industry, and the public sector, strengthening Swedish maritime research, and where applicable, representing Lighthouse internationally
• Regularly informing parties and members about Lighthouse operations
• Responsible for preparing and proposing budgets and operational plans for each calendar year and managing ongoing financial reporting

Other important qualifications:

• Relevant higher education and experience from decision-making levels, preferably within the maritime sector.
• Competence/experience from the maritime industry or other areas we consider equivalent.
• Documented experience of operational, budget, and personnel responsibility.
• Experience and competence in project implementation, including project management, finance, administration, as well as coordination and communication.
• Experience in leading, participating in, or coordinating long-term and strategic collaboration between different actors, preferably industry, public actors, academia, and institutes.
• Very good ability to speak and write in Swedish and English.

The position is a permanent employment, with placement as soon as possible according to agreement. You will be employed by Chalmers Industriteknik but will primarily be located at the Lighthouse office in Lindholmen, Gothenburg.

Lighthouse has described prioritized areas for maritime-related research, development, and innovation in the national research agenda. This is shared with research funders and other relevant actors to ensure the maritime sector is included in R&D programs. We also actively participate in shaping the Swedish contributions to the EU's framework research program. Since March 2019, Lighthouse has also been running the Transport Administration's ten-year industry program for Sustainable Shipping. We also run a trainee program for Naval Architects. Lighthouse makes Swedish maritime research, development, and innovation visible and creates interest through its website, newsletters, social media, press releases, popularizing research, etc. Lighthouse also disseminates results from Swedish and international research and innovation in the maritime field.
