Job Description

Are you a driven and creative urban planner with experience in detailed planning and a burning interest in creating sustainable, viable communities? Do you want to help shape the future environments in Söderköping and Valdemarsvik municipalities? Then we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are now looking for an urban planner who wants to contribute to sustainable community development and be part of a journey where you have the opportunity to influence both the physical and social environment for future generations.

With us, you will have great responsibility and the opportunity to work with all phases of community building projects – from detailed planning and planning programs to investigations and strategic planning. You will be part of a team of urban planners and collaborate closely with other competencies within the administration, as well as with external actors such as authorities, consultants, developers, and our citizens. The work is primarily project-based, which gives you the opportunity to drive and lead projects where you have a significant impact on the final result. One of your most important tasks will be to balance different interests and coordinate efforts to create communities that are both functional, sustainable, and attractive.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree in community building, such as a planning architect, physical planner, urban planner, or architect, and who has at least five years of experience working with detailed planning and urban development projects. You have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code and enjoy keeping up to date on current community issues and legislation. It is also important to us that you are a communicative person who can convey complex information in a pedagogical way to both colleagues, politicians, and the public. You are used to working independently and have the ability to drive projects forward, while also being a good team player who enjoys collaboration.

Experience in leading projects and working with various stakeholders is an advantage, as is experience from working in a municipal organization or in the private sector. If you have an interest in infill projects, design, or cultural environments, that is also a plus.
