Your Role

Aerospace Systems is facing significant challenges, both for programs within the Airframe Assemblies product family and the Boeing T-7A and upcoming derivatives. We are now looking to recruit a senior engineer in structural engineering to our Engineering organization!

In the role of senior engineer, structural engineering, you are expected to exercise technical leadership for our deliveries throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring they meet internal and external requirements. In addition to exercising internal leadership, the work is also characterized by contacts with various departments within Saab AB Aeronautics and externally with our customers and partners, such as Airbus and Boeing. As a senior engineer, you will be involved in developing primarily our development processes but will also touch upon our industrialization processes, in line with Aerospace Systems' overall strategy.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with solid experience in aircraft development focusing on structural engineering, who can contribute to driving and developing our operations to improve both efficiency and quality. You have a technical university degree or equivalent knowledge in the field and are qualified to meet our engineering requirements for 'principal engineer', ref. internal manual MAN-01299. Perhaps you have an ambition to take on the role of chief engineer within a few years. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities, and we hope you are accustomed to working independently and taking initiatives. Since the work involves interaction with other departments, it is important that you communicate clearly and have good collaboration skills and high social competence. The work also requires that you are confident in your leadership and have experience in leading roles. The role may be shaped based on the applicant's interests.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may entail requirements for certain citizenship.

The Aerospace Systems business unit is part of the Aeronautics business area. We develop, industrialize, and produce aircraft structures with integrated systems for the aviation industry worldwide. Aerospace Systems is an integrator with overall responsibility for projects involving development, industrialization, and production of parts for customers' aircraft. Our customers are primarily Airbus and Boeing. At Boeing, both their Commercial and Defense, Space, and Security divisions.

The Engineering department is responsible for configuration management, change management, structural engineering development, industrialization, and technical support of flying structures, including system installation for the business unit's external customers such as Airbus, Boeing, and Beyond Gravity. The department is also responsible for the business unit's IS/IT and ensuring we have relevant knowledge in systems engineering and development within basic aircraft systems. A total of about 120 employees work within the department.
