Job Responsibilities

We work in teams where nurses and caregivers provide patient-centered care in care teams. Together with doctors and treating staff (psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, family therapists, addiction therapists, physiotherapists, and nurses in outpatient care), you form a team with the patient at the center, a so-called patient team. A professional approach and a humanistic value base are the cornerstones of the care process that is based on each patient's individual conditions.

On the ward, you will work with patient-centered care and with the tasks that are commonly performed in a care ward. You will be involved in ongoing care work as well as in the ward's routines. You will observe and document activities performed with the patient and make bookings in digital systems. We always work with a focus on good safety and work environment.

This position is located on ward two.

About the Workplace

The forensic psychiatric inpatient care in Västmanland is located in Sala. The unit is a county clinic consisting of four inpatient wards with 53 care places plus 2 detention places, as well as an outpatient care team operating in Sala and Västerås. The wards consist of three rehabilitation wards and one admission/assessment ward, all with security class 2. There are also plans for an additional care ward with security class 3. Collaboration exists with other forensic psychiatric clinics in Sweden as well as the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. A total of about 160 employees work within the organization.

Patients within Forensic Psychiatry have been referred to care by the court under the Forensic Psychiatric Care Act - with or without special discharge review. The mission of the care includes both the patient's care and treatment but also serves as a societal protection.

Qualifications

We see that you are a trained caregiver or nursing assistant but may also have equivalent education, such as treatment pedagogical assistant.

You possess personal maturity and are stable and secure in yourself. You can reflect on ethical and value-based issues and have a desire to work for equitable care. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language, can express yourself well in speech and writing, and can adapt your communication to different patients' needs.

You demonstrate a non-judgmental approach and have the patient's best interest in focus, while being able to set boundaries for yourself and others. In stressful and changing situations, you have the ability to act professionally and be flexible. Your ability to instill trust creates good relationships with both patients and colleagues.

As the work sometimes involves physical tasks, good physical fitness is required. A driver's license is an asset.

Employment Conditions

Permanent position and temporary position until 2025-08-31, scheduled working hours day, evening, weekend, and possibly night.
