You will work as a democracy coordinator at the Unit for Investigation and Sustainability with exciting and varied assignments. The unit is responsible for the municipality's strategy for social sustainability, where the municipality's long-term work to increase voter participation and trust is a central part. We are now looking for someone who wants to work as a democracy coordinator with the task of developing and implementing a systematic democracy development process with a special focus on citizen dialogues.

The Unit for Investigation and Sustainability consists of 16 employees who support each other, characterized by high professionalism and a good atmosphere. The unit includes environmental strategists, municipal lawyers, investigators, statisticians, and coordinators for issues such as the Finnish administrative area, Europe Direct office, and domestic violence. The Unit for Investigation and Sustainability is organizationally centrally located at the municipal executive office.

Your tasks

The municipality has long experience in promoting voting and now wants to strengthen its systematic work to engage and involve residents through various forms of citizen dialogue between elections. In the role of democracy coordinator, you will serve as a support and coordination function for citizen dialogues, among other things. You will develop and coordinate the work with citizen dialogues and act as an active support and sounding board for offices and committees in the design, implementation, and follow-up of citizen dialogues. You will also train both elected officials and civil servants in citizen dialogue and develop and provide concrete guidance on the various parts of a citizen dialogue process. Part of the assignment is to review the need for and forms of overall governance for the municipality's work with citizen dialogue. It is a varied job with good insight into decision-making. As a democracy coordinator with us, you will be able to express both your analytical and communicative abilities in complex societal issues. You will work directly towards the municipality's goal of ensuring that Södertälje's residents have good opportunities to participate in social life on equal terms, influence their daily lives, and have the opportunity for insight and influence.

Who are you?

Requirements:
We are looking for someone with a social science university or college degree in, for example, political science.
- You have several years of relevant work experience.
- You have experience facilitating and coordinating citizen dialogues and driving methodological development within citizen dialogue to reach residents who are harder to reach.
- You have experience training both elected officials and civil servants in citizen dialogue and democracy development.
- You have experience developing and providing concrete guidance on citizen dialogue processes.

Meritorious:
- Experience in investigative work, preferably from the public sector, where it has included writing and presenting cases in committees, boards, or similar.
- Experience working with similar issues such as investigations related to sustainability, primarily focusing on social sustainability and democracy.
- Experience coordinating voting promotion initiatives.
- Experience working with process and project management.
- Familiarity with building new operations from the ground up, preferably in the public sector.

Personal qualities:
- To succeed in the role, you need to have a very good ability to express yourself simply and tailored to the target audience in both speech and writing, and have a pronounced service mentality.
- You are structured, meticulous, and analytical and have experience working with multifaceted tasks and quickly understanding various issues.
- You are used to working independently and can carry out assignments within set time frames.
- You have a high capacity for innovation and development with the ability to propose new solutions to societal challenges.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability, where high integrity and respect for the civil servant role are important to succeed in the assignment.
