Who are we

The Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland is one of the six courts of appeal in Sweden. The court's main task is to review cases and matters that are appealed from the five district courts in Västernorrland, Gävleborg, and Jämtland counties. In addition to handling cases, the court is tasked with educating clerks and assessors in the four-year judge training program. The court is also required to comment on legislative proposals, etc., that the government refers to the court, as well as to review cases appealed from the Legal Aid Authority.

The court is located in central Sundsvall and has approximately 55 employees. The Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland is a court that continuously develops its working methods to meet citizens' demands for legal certainty, good service, transparency, and accessibility. Job responsibilities

The role of the case manager chief is an operational management role. You lead, distribute, and follow up on the work in the court's administrative office consisting of court clerks and registrars, but you also work as a court clerk yourself.

  • You have a clear focus on operations and employer responsibilities, and your work includes personnel and work environment responsibilities for about ten employees. You have full personnel and work environment responsibility for your employees and conduct performance reviews and salary discussions.
  • You ensure that the need for skills development is recognized and met. You have close cooperation primarily with the court's preparation council, but also with the court president who is the head of the department.
  • You actively work to develop the office's operations with a focus on working methods, routines, and operational support.
  • You also work operationally as a court clerk for about 50 percent of the time. The work as a court clerk involves varied and independent tasks performed together with judges and other staff in the adjudicating department where criminal cases, civil cases, and other court matters are handled.
  • The work is very varied. You must be able to handle several different tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is driven to motivate, lead, and develop others. You should have at least a high school diploma or relevant work experience that the employer deems equivalent. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, as well as good computer skills. You should have several years of experience working as a court clerk. Experience in a supervisory role may be advantageous. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities and suitability for the position.

You create security through your stable demeanor, integrity, and good judgment. Your leadership is characterized by responsiveness and humility, and you are skilled at leading groups towards common goals. With your collaborative skills and solution-oriented approach, you contribute to a positive and effective working environment, even under high pressure.
