The Authority for Total Defense Analysis (MTFA) is tasked with following up, analyzing, and evaluating operations within total defense from a systems perspective and assisting the government with qualified knowledge bases.

MTFA is under the Ministry of Defense and is located in centrally located premises in Stockholm. The authority was established in 2023 and currently has about 30 employees. We continue to grow in 2025.

We are now looking for a financial manager with broad expertise in public accounting and financial management. Do you enjoy taking responsibility and want to drive the authority's financial function forward? Then you might be the one we are looking for.

Your responsibilities

As a financial manager, you will work in an independent and central role close to the administrative manager and the agency's management. You will be responsible for the budget, follow-up, and forecasts for the entire authority, thereby contributing to good internal governance and control of the finances. You will work with ongoing follow-up and financial management, act as a business controller, and provide support to managers on financial issues. You are responsible for ensuring that the authority meets the public financial administrative requirements. You will work with financial governance and follow-up and develop guidelines and routines within the financial area. You will liaise with the Swedish Agency for Governmental Services (SSC), which manages the authority's ongoing bookkeeping and accounting. It is a broad role, and we are therefore looking for someone who enjoys working with various tasks and has the ability to be both operational and strategic.

The position of financial manager is located in the administrative department. The department is responsible for staff support to the director general and the authority's operational support, which includes planning and follow-up, legal affairs, finance, HR, IT, communication, premises management, registration, and office administration. MTFA is a relatively small authority, and to thrive here, it is essential that you want to work on related issues together with colleagues.

You have

• a degree in business administration or other education and experience deemed equivalent
• at least five years of relevant experience working as an economist with financial management, accounting, budgeting, and follow-up within a government agency
• very good knowledge of the regulations governing the financial administrative area for government agencies and experience in preparing budget documentation and annual reports
• experience in developing and working with financial processes
• good knowledge of accounting software (Unit4 ERP), Word, and Excel
• very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish.

It is meritorious if you have

• knowledge and experience in procurement
• experience in business development and improvement work.

Personal qualities

We are looking for someone who is responsible, structured, and meticulous. You have good collaboration skills and are attentive. You are forward-looking, take your own initiatives, and have a good ability to structure your work independently. You enjoy switching between different tasks and paces and can work on several different tasks simultaneously. In the recruitment process, we will place great importance on your personal qualities.

Other

The place of work is Stockholm. The position is classified in a security class, which requires Swedish citizenship. The position is a permanent employment at 100 percent with a six-month probationary period. Employment requires a satisfactory result in the security screening with a background check, conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act. Start date according to agreement.
