From the turn of the year, the County Administrative Board in Stockholm (Länsstyrelsen i Stockholm) takes responsibility for the inspection of civil air raid shelters in the county. We are looking for you who want to work as a Shelter Inspector and contribute to this new assignment. You will be involved in developing our working methods and initiating inspections of the county's shelters.

What does the role involve?

Air raid shelters are a very important part of Sweden's civil preparedness and exist to protect the population in the event of societal threats and other serious incidents. As a Shelter Inspector, you will carry out inspections and follow-up inspections of shelters in Stockholm County. You may also participate in investigative matters and work with administrative tasks related to the assignment. You will be part of the newly formed shelter group within the Unit for Civil Protection and Preparedness.

Together with your colleagues, you will plan your inspections, send summonses to property owners, conduct the inspections, and follow up to ensure any deficiencies are remedied. The role also includes guidance, meaning you will provide advice and support on various questions regarding shelters posed to the authority by property owners and the public.

The assignment is new, which means you will be involved in developing working methods and routine descriptions. The position involves travel within Stockholm County.

As an employee of the County Administrative Board, you may also need to be assigned to other tasks within the department or the authority, as we are a preparedness authority that may receive temporary assignments requiring quick resolution. Therefore, it is a prerequisite that you have an interest in working broadly when the opportunity arises.

Are you the one we are looking for?

For this role, we require you to have:

• Relevant education or other relevant and current competence from the construction or real estate industry, or several years of current experience in site-based supervision that the County Administrative Board deems relevant.
• Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
• A valid B-class driver's license.

To succeed in the role, you need to be self-assured, have integrity, and the courage to make decisions even in complex and sometimes challenging situations. You are structured, analytical, and helpful, with good communicative and pedagogical skills. You can prioritize and are accustomed to handling many cases in parallel. You enjoy collaborating but also thrive working independently.

Meritorious experience:

• Experience in property inspection or equivalent.
• Experience working with shelters or concrete structures that we deem relevant.
• Experience in site-based supervisory work.
• Other experience working at a state authority.

About us and the role

The employment is permanent and begins with a six-month probationary period. It is a full-time position based in Stockholm. You will have the opportunity to work remotely when the operations allow. We want you to start as soon as possible or as agreed.

You belong to the Unit for Civil Protection and Preparedness, which is part of the Department for Preparedness Issues, a growing department in the authority with nearly 60 employees today.

As a permanent employee at the County Administrative Board in Stockholm County, you will be war-placed according to the needs of the total defense and may be included in the authority's organization in a command post situation.
