Description

The Urban Planning Administration develops and maintains nature, culture, and the built environment in Vaxholm. We are responsible for everything within the urban planning sector; from running libraries, maintaining streets, and building new schools to planning new residential areas and issuing building permits and commencement notices for new buildings. Issues regarding traffic, culture, and leisure are also covered by the administration.

The administration consists of seven units; the building permit unit, the planning and development unit, major projects, the property unit, the public space unit, the library, and the support staff. In total, approximately 60 people work at the Urban Planning Administration.

The building permit unit is now looking to recruit two building permit case officers.

Job Responsibilities

As a case officer in the building permit unit in Vaxholm, you will be part of our friendly and strong team. The building permit unit handles permits, pre-decisions, notification cases, and coastal protection dispensations, as well as supervision according to both the Planning and Building Act and coastal protection legislation. We also handle consultations with the Land Survey in property formation matters and remits regarding coastal protection.

You are expected to have basic knowledge of and interest in all areas of the operation, even though you will primarily handle cases regarding permits and supervision according to the Planning and Building Act. An important part of your work will also be to provide information and advice to the public. Your work takes place in a politically governed organization where you make decisions according to delegation and prepare and, when necessary, present cases for decision in the Urban Planning Committee.

As an employee, you contribute to the administration's and unit's development work and to a continued positive work climate. The entire municipality is also undergoing a long-term digitalization process, so engagement in such matters is particularly positive.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have vocational training as a building permit case officer, architect, building engineer, or other education or professional experience that the employer considers equivalent.

The work presupposes that you are well-versed in and have worked with the application of the Planning and Building Act with related legislation and legal practice.

Since we want building permit case officers to be able to work with all parts of the unit's areas of responsibility in the long term, it is meritorious if you have experience and interest in working broadly with building permits, supervision, and coastal protection.

Vaxholm Municipality has a high proportion of culturally and historically valuable environments, so it is meritorious if you have education or previous experience of working with such issues.

We are introducing a new case management system and are working to modernize and streamline the processing. It is meritorious if you have experience of system development and management of system support.

We are looking for you who are careful and structured in your approach to work and at the same time thrive with great personal responsibility and having a flexible role with varying tasks. You must be proactive in your cases and have a results-oriented approach to work. We place great emphasis on your ability to cooperate and work in a team. You have the ability to quickly create an overview and prioritize between your tasks, and you feel comfortable presenting cases in the urban planning committee before decisions.

A B driving license and good command of Swedish in speech and writing are required for the job. In your role, you must be both clear and service-oriented in contact with Vaxholm residents, summer residents, and business owners, as well as other external and internal actors. Social competence and a high degree of service are important qualities, and we place great emphasis on personal suitability.
