The Swedish Security Service (SÄPO) works to prevent and uncover crimes against Sweden's security, combat terrorism, and protect the central government leadership.

We are now looking for a careful and security-conscious colleague to join the team with the important task of protecting and monitoring the Security Service's operations.

Together we protect Sweden

Location: Stockholm

Application deadline: 2026-08-13

This is your assignment

As an operator at the Security Service's monitoring center, you primarily work with various technical systems to solve monitoring tasks. You play a central role in detecting deviations, assessing potential threats, and making decisions on measures related to the protection of buildings and locations where the Security Service operates.

You support the on-duty monitoring supervisor in their daily work of distributing, coordinating, and leading operational personnel, as well as handling suddenly occurring incidents. You collaborate with both internal and external actors to solve the task and share information with other management functions to contribute to the overall situation picture.

Your assignment also includes working with various administrative tasks that ensure quality and development in our work or otherwise add value to the operations. Another important part of your work is mentoring the introduction of new employees.

In addition to working in the monitoring center, you will also perform various supervision tasks at the protected site.

Based on experience and assessed suitability, the assignment may develop to also include duties as a security guard.

At the monitoring center, we work primarily on a three-shift basis, as we are staffed around the clock. Other types of shift work may also occur.

Your placement is at the headquarters in Solna, and the work is performed on-site, meaning you do not have the option to work remotely. Travel within Sweden may occur.

These are the qualifications we are looking for

Only those who meet the requirements below can be considered for the position.

Requirements:

  • Upper secondary education or other education or experience that the Security Service considers equivalent.
  • Documented experience working as an operator in a monitoring center, alarm center, command center, or as an operator in another similar environment.
  • Experience working in a technology-intensive environment.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
  • Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

The employment requires Swedish citizenship.

You may also have competence that adds breadth and complementary perspectives. If you can contribute with one or more of the following, it is meritorious:

  • Experience working in a security-sensitive environment.
  • Security guard training or experience in operational security work.
  • Experience from a law enforcement agency or the Swedish Armed Forces.

This is the colleague we are looking for

As an operator at the Security Service's monitoring center, you collaborate and cooperate both within and outside the agency, which places high demands on your service orientation, teamwork skills, and ability to adapt communication to the recipient. You contribute to a positive work climate at the workplace and have a professional approach in your contacts, both internally and externally.

You thrive in an operational and technology-intensive environment where conditions can change quickly, from moments of calm where your endurance, focus, and vigilance must still be engaged – to rapidly emerging situations where your ability to make well-founded decisions under time pressure can be decisive.

You have the ability to handle multiple parallel events and information flows simultaneously. By gathering and evaluating information from various systems and colleagues, you create a current situation picture and can prioritize the right measures even during periods of high tempo and in pressured situations.

To thrive and be successful in your role, it is important that you have high self-motivation, are enduring, and work in a structured and careful manner. We are looking for a colleague who is secure, responsible, and proactive.

We value that you take initiative, drive your own learning, and actively contribute to developing our working methods and operations.

You have a good understanding that the monitoring assignment is one of several important parts that together create the conditions for the agency's work to protect Sweden. You are motivated by taking responsibility for both your function and the best interests of the entire operation.

The Security Service places high demands on security and confidentiality; therefore, we assume that you have a high level of security awareness and strong integrity.

Terms of Employment

Employment at the Security Service involves placement in a security class that requires Swedish citizenship. Employment also requires a passed result in the security investigation with register check, conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act.

This is a permanent position starting with a six-month probationary period. We apply individual salary setting. Employment includes an obligation to be mobilized in the event of war.
