to apply for the job
Göteborg City Mission is an idealistic, non-profit organization working to support people living in vulnerable situations. Together, we want to create a Gothenburg where everyone is included. A city where we meet the person, not the problem.
At our organization, you will work in an environment characterized by high engagement and drive, where our ambition to do more for more people guides our actions in both the short and long term. The City Mission has approximately 350 employees, a couple of hundred temporary staff, and about 500 volunteers. We are located geographically in Gothenburg and surrounding municipalities.
The reception is part of the HR department, which is a central support function with overall responsibility for HR, payroll, and reception. The team consists of an HR Manager, HR Generalists, Payroll Specialists, and Receptionists based at our premises on Första Långgatan in Gothenburg. We are now looking for you who want to work extra in our reception.
The Job at the Reception
The City Mission's reception is centrally located at Första Långgatan 28B. Our reception is responsible for the switchboard and shared emails, receives visitors, and supports the organization with administrative and practical tasks such as mail handling and ordering office supplies. The reception is open Monday-Friday during daytime hours.
As a receptionist with us, you are right in the heart of the City Mission and also serve as an important face of the organization. You meet and provide service to a wide range of people – from those seeking help to donors, colleagues, customers, and more.
We are now looking for you who want to work extra with us during the absence of regular staff. The amount of hours may vary, but we estimate that during the autumn, we need someone who can work approximately half-time.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who thrives in meeting people and has the ability to see and respond to those who come to us in the way they need. You need to thrive in an environment where many things can happen simultaneously and have an interest in seeking and absorbing information about what is happening in the operations. At the same time, you need to have good patience, empathy, and a focus on finding solutions, especially when meeting people in vulnerable situations. You are a good communicator and find it easy to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. Since you will often work alone in our reception, it is important that you enjoy working independently.
We want you to have experience with administrative tasks and would appreciate if you have experience working in a reception, switchboard, or in meeting people in a similar capacity, preferably from the hotel and tourism industry. Good IT skills are a must, as the computer is your tool in everyday life. Language skills beyond Swedish and English are meritorious, as is experience or education in some form of social work.
We assume that you, as a job seeker with us, share our view that all people have the right to a place in our city, a home of their own, and a voice. We see diversity as a strength and look forward to applicants with different backgrounds, interests, and experiences.
Conditions
We offer hourly paid employment on an as-needed basis, and believe this is a job that might suit you if you want to work part-time, e.g., if you are a pensioner, studying, or have another part-time job. Since we need your help in cases of sick leave, for example, it is important that you are available for work on short notice. Currently, due to parental leave, we need someone who is available for work on Wednesdays.
We apply the collective agreement Health, Care and Other Welfare Services via Fremia, with associated benefits and conditions. We want you to have the possibility to start your employment in August/September 2026.
If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact us from week 32 onwards. Interviews will likely take place during weeks 32 and 33.
Welcome with your application!
