About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.
Probation Norrland covers Västernorrland, Västerbotten, and Norrbotten counties and has staffed offices in Luleå, Gällivare, Umeå, and Sundsvall. Probation conducts background investigations and supervises clients who are conditionally released, under protective supervision, sentenced to community service, or monitored via ankle bracelets/intensive monitoring. Probation also works with various treatment programs, and in Umeå and Sundsvall, also on-site at nearby prisons. Within Probation Norrland, approximately 180 employees and 13 managers work to reduce client recidivism and thereby increase safety in society.

Job Description
As an administrator, you will be part of a group of four administrators with primary responsibility for common administrative tasks. The work also includes staffing the reception, which means you play an important role in preventive security work by managing office access to the visitation area. You are responsible for establishing the client's identity, checking the case, and clarifying the client's authorization before the person is allowed into our premises. This is to ensure that unknown or impaired persons are not admitted to our premises as much as possible.
You are responsible for, together with other staff, safely denying entry to clients who pose a security risk. You are also responsible for archives, case registers, mail handling, orders, economic administration, and registration in the client administrative systems. This may involve, for example, registering and processing decisions and background investigations based on probation's part in the legal chain. Through the reception and office, you represent the Swedish Prison and Probation Service with a trustworthy and correct attitude towards clients, partners, and the public. The tasks require that you can ensure confidentiality is maintained while having knowledge of the principle of public access.
The position is a full-time temporary assignment for six months, with possible extension. Some work may take place during extended opening hours and travel to our visitation office in Härnösand.
Qualifications
The work as an administrator is a service function, which requires that you are service-oriented. For us, this means that you are accommodating in your interactions and have the interest, willingness, and ability to help others and keep operations running smoothly. You are calm and confident in yourself and can handle stressful situations well. Furthermore, you have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively so that important tasks are maintained. You are also flexible and thus easily adapt to changed circumstances and see solutions in emerging situations. Your ability to work in a team is excellent. We assume that you have good IT skills and a well-developed administrative ability.
To thrive and succeed in your assignment, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's basic values regarding a human view of people, respect for the individual, and the belief that humans are capable of development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute with your attitude to ensure that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Upper secondary school education in the form of final grades or a high school diploma, preferably with an administrative or economic focus, or alternatively other education combined with relevant experience that the employer considers equivalent.
