Description

You are welcome to apply for the position of school counselor at Mossleskolan and Kärda skola. Mossleskolan is a preschool to grade 3 school in the western part of Värnamo urban area with approximately 265 students. Kärda skola is a preschool to grade 6 school with approximately 50 students, located just outside Värnamo urban area with good transportation and commuting opportunities.

The schools are characterized by a pleasant and welcoming work environment where collaboration is the focus of the students' learning. The schools have active student health teams, of which you will be a part. The student health team consists of a school nurse, counselor, special education teacher, special needs teacher, Swedish as a Second Language (SVA) teacher, deputy principal, and principal, with access to a school psychologist and school speech therapist. Our expectation and driving force is that all students want to, can, and should succeed!

Responsibilities

In the role of school counselor, you, together with the school leadership and the rest of the student health team, are responsible for ensuring that the student health services contribute in the best possible way to the students' goal achievement and that the students are given good conditions for health and learning. The school counselor brings psychosocial competence to the school at the individual, group, and organizational levels, and works based on proven experience and evidence with psychosocial interventions directly targeted at groups or individual students.

In your work, you focus on health-promoting factors from a preventive and promoting perspective. The school's safety work is an important part of the assignment. The responsibilities include conducting group-oriented interventions, having individual conversations with students, being close to the students during lessons and breaks, supervising staff, and conducting assessments. You lead and drive the work in the school's safety group and work to promote attendance.

The assignment includes having contact with other authorities. You receive regular group supervision and are part of a professional group with other school counselors in the municipality.

Qualifications

We are primarily looking for you with a degree in social work or alternatively another equivalent behavioral science education, and with knowledge of social services law and the school's regulatory documents. You can organize and prioritize work in an effective way that leads to results. As a person, you are proactive, curious, positive, and develop by engaging with new research and collaborating with other colleagues. The work requires good teamwork skills, good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing, as well as a holistic view and flexibility. You find it easy to collaborate and create good working relationships. Experience working with children and young people is an advantage.

The position is subject to the necessary decisions being made.

In Värnamo Municipality, all permanent positions are advertised as full-time. If you instead prefer part-time and the activity can accommodate a lower degree of employment, this is of course an option.
