Deputy Section Manager – Energy & Community Building
Do you want to contribute to direction, coordination, and progress in the work on energy transition, good community planning, and regional development in Jönköping County?
We are looking for you who thrive on creating overview, keeping processes together, and providing others with good conditions for success. Here, you will have an important role close to the section manager, employees, and collaboration partners in an operation with many assignments, projects, and development issues.
The role of Deputy Section Manager
The role does not involve personnel responsibility, but you have a central coordinating and leading function in the section's work, both internally and in collaboration with other actors.
You work closely with the section manager and contribute to business management, project portfolio, follow-up, working methods, and development processes. The assignment concerns both the section's collective work and, with particular emphasis, the operations of Energikontor Norra Småland (Energy Office North Småland).
In the role, you create overview, structure, and progress in an operation with many parallel assignments. You prepare, coordinate, and follow up on issues related to leadership, projects, economy, business planning, and meeting structures. Formal managerial decisions, personnel responsibility, occupational health and safety responsibility, and budget responsibility lie with the section manager, but the role requires that you can work independently and drive processes forward within given frameworks.
What you will work with
- Support the section manager in leadership, planning, coordination, and follow-up.
- Develop internal working methods, meeting structures, business planning, and common processes.
- Coordinate and follow up on the section's portfolio of projects and assignments together with project managers, project coordinators, controllers, and other functions.
- Contribute to project start-ups, project reviews, closures, resource planning, and prioritizations.
- Prepare materials for internal meetings and steering groups and, as needed, represent the section or the Energy Office.
Your future workplace
You will become part of the section for Energy and Community Building within Regional Development at Jönköping County Council. Within Regional Development, we work on the county's long-term development together with municipalities, authorities, business life, academia, and other actors.
Energikontor Norra Småland is a central part of the section and works together with the county's actors for the transition of the energy system in Jönköping County. The role therefore has a special connection to the Energy Office's operations, while also covering the section's collective assignments.
The section's work spans future energy systems, sustainable building, good community planning, energy- and resource-efficient business, sustainable transport, transport infrastructure, and digital connectivity. We work through projects and assignments, process leadership, knowledge support, analysis, influence work, and collaboration. Here, you will become part of an engaged section with about twenty colleagues and broad competence.
Your profile
We are looking for you who have a relevant university education in, for example, social sciences, public administration, project management, community planning, energy, environment, or another area that the employer deems relevant.
You have experience in keeping processes, projects, or development work together in complex environments where several actors, perspectives, and dependencies need to be weighed together. You are used to creating structure, driving issues forward, and contributing to a common direction even when conditions change.
We would like you to have experience in several of the following areas:
- Business management, business development, or qualified managerial support.
- Project management, project control, or project portfolio management.
- Externally funded operations, project applications, project follow-up, or work with funders.
- Public sector, regional development, or politically directed operations.
- Collaboration between municipalities, regions, authorities, business life, or other societal actors.
It is an advantage if you have experience of energy and climate transition, community planning, regional development, or similar issues. Subject matter competence in our areas is valuable, but the emphasis is on business management, project logic, coordination, and progress together with others.
As a person, you are secure, structured, and sensitive. You have a holistic view, build trust, pick up needs in time, and have good judgment when prioritizations need to be made. You enjoy coordinating and leading through structure, trust, and collaboration. You express yourself clearly and pedagogically in Swedish, both in speech and writing, and have a digital way of working that comes naturally. We place great importance on personal suitability and strive for diversity and gender equality.
