If the answer is yes, we think you should apply for our position as Fisheries Consultant with a focus on fisheries control and the management of fish and fishing in Lake Vättern.

The Fisheries Unit

You will be part of the Fisheries Unit, which is one of five units within the Nature Department. The unit consists of nineteen employees with great interest and drive. The unit handles water and fishery issues from a broad perspective and collaborates closely with other units, not least the Water Unit. Managing and developing the fish and fishing in Lake Vättern is one of our priority areas. We are responsible, among other things, for planning and implementing fisheries control throughout Lake Vättern. We disseminate information, conduct various fish surveys and fishery conservation measures, and are driving forces in the co-management of fishing in Lake Vättern. Other major tasks within the unit include driving restoration efforts and coordinating the county's NAP (National Action Plan) work. We also work with managing and developing national environmental data systems. Responsibilities

You will play a key role in the ecosystem-based fish management work in Lake Vättern. One of the main responsibilities will be to plan and implement fisheries control throughout Lake Vättern. The work involves extensive external contacts and coordination with other relevant authorities and stakeholders. Control work takes place partly in the evenings and on weekends. You will also participate in several other tasks, such as fish marking, net and crayfish test fishing, information dissemination, and evaluation of fish surveys. The content of the position will be adapted to your qualifications and experience.

We work with clear goal management and distribute tasks based on competence, interest, and opportunities. The work is organized in teams, and this position will be part of Team Vättern.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a university degree in natural sciences or engineering, or equivalent, with subjects such as biology, limnology, fisheries biology, hydrology, or fish management.

You must have at least a Category B driver's license and experience driving a car with a trailer and boats larger than approx. 5 meters. It is an advantage if you have experience in fisheries control, some form of vessel command competence, knowledge of marine electronics and VHF, and an E-license (large boat license). Knowledge of sport fishing, commercial fishing, fishing legislation, and English is also considered an advantage. Good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is a requirement.

Previous work experience or in-depth knowledge in fishery conservation, coordination, project management, information dissemination, or implementation and evaluation of fish surveys is advantageous. Previous work experience in a public authority is also considered an advantage.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You will collaborate both internally and externally, so you need to have good teamwork skills. You need to be structured but also flexible, as the position involves various tasks. You are responsible, have good judgment, and are engaged in the subject matter, with the ability to independently prioritize and drive tasks to completion.

Conditions

The position is full-time and permanent. We apply a six-month probationary period as a rule for permanent positions. Start date as soon as possible after agreement.
