Do you want to work with advanced technology that makes a real difference in society? SMHI is looking for a Technical System Administrator who wants to work close to operations in a complex and socially critical IT environment. Here, you will help ensure stable, modern, and purposeful systems and services used throughout the organization every day.
About the role
As a Technical System Administrator, you work close to operations with responsibility for technology, operations, and further development within selected system areas. The role involves long-term responsibility for ensuring stable, secure, and well-functioning solutions in close collaboration with both business units and IT colleagues.
Initially, you will primarily work within a team responsible for SMHI's chat tools, document management systems, and office programs. You will work with operations, maintenance, support, development, and technical administration of these systems. You will also contribute your technical expertise during procurement and the introduction of new solutions.
The role also involves gradually working with more systems and services within the unit's area of responsibility.
You will become part of the Digital Workplace unit, which is responsible for the development and administration of SMHI's digital workplace and several business-supporting systems used throughout the organization. The unit works closely with the business, focusing on user-friendly and purposeful solutions, often based on open source, that meet the needs of both specialized operations and the broader organization.
About you
We are looking for you who have an academic education in IT or other experience that SMHI considers equivalent. You have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Work experience is required in configuring, adapting, and operating systems on a Linux platform, as well as several years of experience in similar tasks in an operation-close IT environment. To succeed in the role, you need to have a holistic perspective and understand how different systems and technical solutions interact in a larger IT environment.
It is an advantage if you additionally have,
- experience in operations and administration of systems on a Windows platform
- experience with Exchange, networks, and IT infrastructure
- worked within government operations, regions, or municipalities and have an understanding of LOU (Public Procurement Act)
- Knowledge of Agile working methods and approaches
- Relevant certifications in the field
The role involves close collaboration with IT colleagues, suppliers, and the business, which makes it important that you are service-oriented and enjoy helping others find working solutions. Since the systems are used widely across the organization, you need to be able to understand the business's needs and translate them into stable and usable technology.
We are looking for you who are stable and confident even in situations where the pace is high or when problems need to be solved quickly in operation-close environments. You also have good collaboration skills and build trusting relationships by being attentive, communicative, and solution-oriented.
The role requires self-drive and responsibility, while you appreciate working together with knowledgeable colleagues in a complex and socially critical IT environment. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities.
