IT Security Architect
based in Norrköping
You will join the Swedish Transport Administration's (Sjöfartsverket) IT department, which currently consists of approximately 100 employees. On the IT department, we work closely with each other and the business operations, both physically and digitally. We have the opportunity to work remotely a few days a week, while still valuing physical presence when needed. Close collaboration creates the conditions for fast decision-making processes and smooth cooperation between different roles and departments. Our working methods are agile, allowing room to contribute new ideas that create user value and IT benefits throughout the entire lifecycle of IT services. You will be part of the IT Security Unit within the IT department.
Key Responsibilities
As an IT Security Architect, you are responsible for developing, maintaining, and long-term shaping of the Swedish Transport Administration's IT security architecture. The role is strategic and tactical, with a clear focus on ensuring that IT and information security are integrated into the architecture, design, and further development of the agency's IT environment.
You will function as a central specialist within the IT Security Unit and provide architectural support to the business, projects, solution architects, technical specialists, operations organization, etc. The role involves translating business needs, security requirements, and legal requirements into sustainable architectural principles and solutions.
An important part of the assignment is to ensure that security is built in from the start in new and changed solutions, according to established architectural principles and a Security by Design perspective.
In the role, you will among other things:
- develop, maintain, and further develop the Swedish Transport Administration's IT security architecture
- create and establish architectural principles, guidelines, and target architectures within IT and information security
- specify requirements and review solutions from an IT and information security perspective
- ensure that security requirements, business requirements, and legal requirements are translated into sustainable architectural solutions
- conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and threat modeling prior to new solutions and changes
- provide support to projects, development initiatives, and solution architecture in matters concerning IT security architecture
- contribute security requirements in procurements and the introduction of new IT solutions
- collaborate with the IT Security Unit, other units within the IT department, the business, and external suppliers to ensure a coherent security architecture
- lead and facilitate workshops within IT and information security as well as architecture
- produce statements and opinions related to IT security
- follow developments in cybersecurity and translate new threats, technologies, and working methods into architectural principles and direction
- participate in projects and development initiatives within the area as needed
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have:
- a university or higher education degree in IT security, computer science, computer engineering, systems science, or other education and experience considered equivalent
- several years of relevant experience, at least three years, working as an IT Security Architect or in a similar role in a government agency, other public sector operations, or a large organization
- current experience working with IT security architecture in large and complex IT environments
- current experience in creating, establishing, and further developing architectural principles within IT and information security
- experience in specifying requirements, reviewing, and evaluating technical solutions from a security perspective
- experience in translating business requirements and legal requirements into technical architecture
- good knowledge of relevant regulations and standards within IT and information security, such as the Cyber Security Act, ISO 27001 & ISO 27002, and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency's (MSB/MCF) governing ordinances on IT and information security
- experience working in projects and change initiatives
- good communication skills and experience working with different stakeholders at various levels
- good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience working with architecture and security in hybrid environments
- experience working with the Zero Trust security strategy and modern security architectures
- certifications in IT architecture or IT and information security
- experience working according to the Security Protection Act (PMFS 2022:1) and understanding of requirements in security-sensitive operations
